We've just returned from a stay here. Its about an hours easy drive from the circuit de Spa Francorchamps and about 20 minutes from the beautiful village of Monschau.
The 3 bed room we had was perfect. Very comfortable and very clean! A huge double bed and en suite at one end, with a single at the other. The only change I would make is to add a kettle and some teabags. Breakfast was more than sufficient, with enough variety for even the most fussy of eaters. We even had the option to take a small packed lunch away with us too. 
The owner had limited English but this was never an issue.
I would definitely return here with an aim to explore some of the beautiful forest surrounding it.

I stayed with my wife and three other friends in October.  We wanted to experience a place off the beaten path where we could experience the German culture.  It is a very well maintained farm house surrounded by forests.  Once there,  we were assured a comfortable and friendly place.  For you runners or hikers, there are plenty of trails to accommodate you.  The breakfast and dinner were both very good and all the staff very friendly.  We muddled through attempts at speaking German, but were made to feel at home by our hosts.  We would certainly recommend the Gut Heistert!

Peace in the Ardennes

Very comfortable and friendly

The property is in a very quiet area with a hiking trail right outside.  We brought our bikes and found a proper bike path less than 10 minutes drive away.  Hotel included only basic amenities with soap and thin towels.  The room safe cost extra to use.  No AC which would have been useful during our hot July visit but one of our windows was screened and we had another large window also.  The owner keeps a couple of dogs on the property which bark at every sound during the day but at least they were quiet at night.  Breakfast buffet contained barely enough food for the guests and included meat, cheese, fruit, yogurt, cereal, one choice of eggs, and a sweet "dessert."  Next time we are in the area we will probably look for a different hotel.
