Chicago Suites International Hotel

I'm a regular at the Chicago Suites because I like the two bedroom suites on the high floors. I usually book on Ctrip for a couple of weeks at a time. Make no mistake, this is a Chinese value hotel with Chinese staff which can pose minor communication inconveniences and it's a bit long in the tooth. Don't let a little bit of poor English, shabby decor and simple furniture scare you away. It's in an excellent location close between two MTR stations, the electronics market and very close to the SEG building in the heart of Huaqiang Bei. The neighborhood is full of great little noodle places, fruit shops, a 7-11, foot massage and many small bars. NOTE: this place is not for fussy types. If you want a pricey Western experience with full service, stay at the Shangri La, Four Seasons, Hilton or Marriott for US$150/night more. If you want a great value on a longer term apartment style hotel, go native at the Chicago Suites. Strong Internet for business and a flat screen TV in the living room for your VPN streaming enjoyment. Bring your own HDMI cable or buy one for $3 bucks at the market. That said, I'm a frequent business traveler and normally stay at Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and similar brands. I can handle this with ease. Here I choose to go local for the sheer convenience, great value and experience of Huaqiang Bei. Try it. I've stayed at many of the other nearby hotels and always come back to sweet home Chicago. I saw a roach one time. I squashed it and lived to write this positive review.
