Shanghai Jiading Villa Garden Hotel

I have stayed here twice this year. I like the location. If you don't mind walking, the subway is about 1 mile away. Otherwise, cabs are cheap. Old town Jiading is right out the gate, and there's a mall nearby at Robinson's Galleria. Staff are efficient and quick. Same day laundry is reasonably priced, so I don't need to pack as many clothes. Both times I had room 1209, which overlooks the canal and has 1 anteroom, 1 bedroom, and one living room. It's a great size and plenty of space for your belongings. The view is really very nice, with the old-style buildings just across the canal...these are brightly lit in the evenings but they turn off the lights at 10PM. There's a pub just around the corner that stay's open pretty late and has expensive draft beers. The wi-fi was very slow, but that is the main drawback I can think of. No elevator, so if you have lots of luggage or mobility troubles it might be tricky for upper floor. Otherwise, there is a very nice courtyard with a small fountain and shady trees. Good sized small refrigerator and lots of counter space if you want to buy some drinks and snacks. Breakfast is typically Chinese, but I found it to be just fine. I to stay in Jiading because it's easier to go jogging early in the morning...wide streets and not much traffic at all if you leave before 6AM.
