Central Business Hotel

I booked this hotel last-minute from the Ctrip app, managing to get a great deal of 238 RMB/night. I checked in on May 1st, with little hassle, paying 300 RMB up front and heading to my room on the 3rd floor. I had a double-twin business room: a small entryway, a nice bathroom and two separate albeit small bedrooms with a twin bed each. The bedrooms had almost no free space, and I was glad to have two of them: one for my suitcase and other luggage and one for actual sleep. The hotel offered two bottles each of Chinese red tea, Sprite and water "with compliments". On returning to the hotel on my second day, I found my keycard had been deactivated. I returned to the front desk and was told I needed to pay the rest of my fee: no problem! However, the staff member spoke very minimal English, and tried to charge me another 300 RMB. I showed him my Ctrip booking confirmation e-mail, explaining by writing it out that I had already paid 300 RMB the night before and should only pay 176 RMB this time. With this sorted out, I paid my 176 RMB, had my keycard reactivated and enjoyed my second night. I checked out on the morning of May 3rd, and stored my luggage behind the front desk until about 4:30 PM. The location of this hotel is a little strange: the address listen is for 8 Fengxian Road, and the builing just before this also carries the number 8. It is on a one-way street, in a residential area, and some taxi drivers may refuse to take you there because it is little-known. However, there are several city bus stops around the hotel (within 5-10 minutes walking distance) and at 1 RMB/ride you can't beat the transit system in Qingdao. One final, albeit HUGE con: The WiFi available in the hotel is absolute crap. I relied on my 3G service throughout the trip. If you're going to need your WiFi maybe you should reconsider booking here...
