SOFAR Lake-view Hotel

I stayed in this hotel Nov 6- 8, 2014. When I first saw pictures of Sofar, I was immediately magnetized by the tasteful decor. I later learned from a guest that the owner is an interior designer. The rooms and surrounding is picturesque, tranquil, and has a cultured air. Pictures of the resort will speak for itself. As for location, one has to trod into Sofar by foot (about 1-2 mins walk from the road), as the walkway to the hotel is not wide enough for a cab/ taxi to drive through. Thus the serenity of the place. To me, this is a pro. Other than that, 1. Room is clean & cozy. 2. Has all the modern necessities -hair dryer, thermal blanket, coffee, tea, bottled water, room slipper, robe, and toiletries. 3. Free buffet breakfast and guests can borrow bicycle for free 4. Perfect place to unwind & hideout from the bustle of life. Area for Improvement 1. Front desk pretty much leave guests alone. Speaking to other guests, we concur that front desk could give a bit more warm to the guests. 2. Inhouse restaurant serves Thai and Szechuan food. Had a fried beef rice noodle (RMB 22). Rice noodle is bland and oily, it has only 3 small pieces of beef and some sliver of green bell peppers. I ate up the meat & veg, and left all the rice noodles untouched. I will adv to avoid this if you are there but can give them a chance as food on other tables looked generally good.
