Motel Riviere Trois Pistoles

We stayed here primarily as they were dog friendly and we were traveling with our pooch.  

The motel looks dated but was very clean and comfy. No complaints. This is not a 4 star hotel, if you are looking for that, move along.  This is a well-kept, friendly spot to stay with an accommodating host in a convenient location.  

We stayed here twice, once on the way to our destination and once on the way back.  I will stay here again in the future.

We stayed two different nights on our trip to and from the Gaspe and had a wonderful experience .  The owner is so friendly and helpful, also suggesting places to eat and things to see on our way.  The rooms were spotless with all the amenities you might need.   We felt like family and would recommend it to all.

Don't be put off by the modest exterior.  The owner has taken care to provide clean rooms with good amenities, and the property is well-maintained.  WiFi and TV quality were excellent.  Room had refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave. We were pleasantly surprised to see an air conditioner in this climate - while we didn't need it, our next, more expensive, hotel only had fans.  The owner was very helpful suggesting places to go at the next stop on our trip.  There is another motel with a similar name, so be sure to find this one.

There was a mix-up with booking.com, but the family was very accommodating and helpful in sorting it out for us. The motel is an older one, but it has been renovated and is very clean and bright. Much appreciated - thanks!

We stayed here for just one night before taking the ferry across the river. The owners speak good English and were helpful, changing our room from a one to two beds with no problem. The room was clean with a microwave and sofa.

The owner/operators of this motel are exceptionally friendly and helpful.  The room was spotless.  If we're ever passing through Trois-Pistoles PQ again, we'll definitely stay here  Our room had both a fridge and microwave.

The room and check-in and service was all great, the only thing noteworthy was the smell from the water in the washroom. We kept the washroom door closed for our stay, but the moment it opened the room smelled very sulfur-y and stinky. It bothered us, but we obviously weren't bothered enough to leave. Just worth knowing if you're sensitive to smells...

Clean, Pleasant Owners, On The Main Road

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I am a positive review person (as you can see if you check my review account), however - there's no possibility I could ever give this place a positive word.

I called ahead to book a room on my drive across the country. Spoke with a lady who spoke poor English and I spoke poor French but we could talk numbers.  I was quoted 160$ for a room with my pets. Upon arrival I was charged 213$. I was not told the 160$ did not include the pet fees. I was taxed on a pet fee then the federal and provincial taxes were calculated separately and they taxed the tax so I was taxed individually on everything.

It gets better.

I have no choice other than to pay it. I pay it.  I move on, start off loading my things. A random man approaches my van with no introduction and proceeds to tell me I can't park in front of my door. Okay, no problem. Then he yells at my window "how many dogs do you have" my dogs are going nuts at this random dude approaching me so I put my finger up to tell him just a moment and he mistakes that as me saying one dog. He leaves.

As I start unloading my stuff he walks across the parking lot and starts yelling at me telling me I was dishonest about the amount of dogs. I have NO idea who this guy is as I've only spoken with and dealt with a lady.

He's going OFF on me in the parking lot then proceeds to tell me I also refused to provide the hotel with a credit card - which is really weird because I paid with my credit card. I was never asked for a credit card.

I ask him if I can have a moment to put my things down to talk to him, he doesn't stop. I ask him for a refund because this is all happening within minutes of me arriving. I go back to the office to talk to him and he's LOSING IT on me. I provide him with not ONE but TWO credit cards and proceed to ask him to stop swearing at me a treating me like a criminal for clearly a misunderstanding. I explain to him that I'm extremely disappointed with the final price and that I was also misled. He tells me I shouldn't lie about my dogs and that I should have known about the pet fees. Right, so I can read minds now.

No matter how much I tried to reason with this guy or resolve the situation as fast as possible, he wanted a fight. He's swearing at me and telling me that I am a liar and all the issues he's had in the past, valid but I'm trying to resolve this and hes not into it. I asked for a refund multiple times and was told because I put my dogs in the room "I wasn't getting a f*cking refund" (I think he watched and waited until I put them in there). I told him I'd sleep in my van with my dogs before I'd stay there and get treated like that. Still arguing with me he tells me I'm not making my dogs sleep in my van. (Seriously, he's mental)

Finally after so long of being verbally attacked I stood silent in the office waiting for him to finally take a credit card number from me as I clearly had to stay there. He still didn't stop. I stand there shaking my head and he's screaming at me accusing me of laughing at him.

I hope at the very least he took my money and got himself a therapy appointment because this man has serious, serious issues to treat not just a person but a young woman in the way he treated me. He's a sad excuse of a human being and I hope he gets the help he needs. Stay anywhere BUT here.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I didn't expect any miracles. The room is very small, the bathroom is also incredibly small and if you want to use the toilet, you have to be very thin and your head will be touching the wall. There is no exhaust system in the bathroom and the water pressure is very low. The room has very poor sound insulation, we could hear someone snoring from the next room all night, in addition to that we could hear the sound of cars from the road. A complete renovation is required. Otherwise, the room was clean, a larger fridge, coffee machine, TV, etc. are available. You can survive for one night here. The price for such a room is outrageously overpriced,
