Macaw Bank Jungle Lodge

We loved our stay at this rustic lodge in the jungle! Just what we were hoping for! It feels secluded, but is still accessible to all areas around San Ignacio and was an easy drive to Caracol. Our cabin was super clean and comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. What made the stay more special were our hosts, Leti and Raul. All the reviews are spot on: between the two of them you get lots of details about the area, help with anything you need at any time of day, kindness and warmth, expert birding right on sight, and amazing food. It was the best food of our 12 days in Belize and we still talk about it. The ingredients were so fresh and even the fry jacks felt light and airy, never greasy (super important for your Belize trip!) Best pork chop I’ve ever eaten. Best beans. Best fresh juice. Loved the desserts every night! Best food nearly anywhere. We decided not to even go to town for meals, as they could not compare. The special care by L & R made it an unforgettable stay. We love birding and had so much fun birding with Raul! He knows hundreds of birds and over 300 by song. We saw around 40 species in just one morning. We let Leti know that we love trying new fruits and she excitedly shared some of her orchard bounty with us every morning, describing everything in detail. We really felt thought of at Macaw Bank. Left alone to hike the trails and relax , and fully taken care of at the same time. All the meals were scheduled around what worked for us, and coffee was always ready to go in the morning when we were. Leti and Raul are pros that are putting their years of experience and love into Macaw Bank. Thank you for everything!
