Hotel Woolstore 1888, Sydney - Handwritten Collection

This is just the sort of city hotel I like but which is increasingly hard to find - a boutique look with an almost club-like ambience, arising from the historic character of the building with its sympathetically modernised and stylish design. Guests walk straight into what presents as a subdued but welcoming bar/restaurant (which it is!) and the consequent absence of the usual foyer clamour and clutter results in a very calming, relaxed vibe. It all adds up to a very personal feel. Apart from the chic suites the rooms are smallish, but cleverly designed and very well-appointed. Having been here at least 4 times I have always found the accommodation to be spotlessly clean, the towels and linen impeccable and the beds very comfortable. This hotel is well located very close to Darling Harbour, and the Sydney light rail station (“Convention”) is barely a minute away via the convenient short cut through the car park directly over the road. The staff are pleasantly informal whilst professional and attentive. Special thanks to the manager, Cameron, for his warm welcome and also to Lenka and Sanzita for their friendly helpfulness.
