Pashko Vasa Guesthouse

We like small, owner-on- site or nearby guest houses and Pashko Vasa guest house is just such a place. Pashko Vasa was an Albanian lexicographer who researched and printed the first dictionary of the Albanian language and this was his home at the beginning of the 20th century.The house is a traditional large manor house of this period with gardens and many traditional objects and memorabilia of the period were in our bedroom. There was also an interesting collection of historic photos covering the last 100 years of Albanian history on display in the large first floor open Gallery where meals are taken. The inclusive breakfast was delicious, our bedroom was massive, the bed comfortable, with bathroom not en suite but just down the corridor. All spotless yet still retained the lived in charm and character of the period. Spend a night there and you feel you have slept in a little bit of real old Albania! The host is warm. friendly and helpful, she might not speak english but she does have a Google translator on a laptop which prompted much fun and laughter as we communicated. A fist full of stars for this place - stay here and you certainly won’t be disappointed.
