Querky little pub in a beautiful little village. Food, staff and room were great.  Very welcoming locals.

Great place to eat. Fantastic food and great service.

The landlord is very helpful and friendly and service from the team is brilliant

We stayed here for a Sunday night on the way home from a weekend away. The staff and locals were friendly, food was great and the room comfortable enough although the floorboards were really creaky in our room (although it is an older building so it is to be expected)We would definitely stay here again, should the opportunity arise

Great little country pub, with friendly host Chris, and great staff. Good food and atmosphere with his local village customers. Ideal, quiet location. Great draught beers and plenty of choice. Onsite, safe parking. Handy for Thirsk, Ripon and neighbouring villages.

Lovely pub stay

We are just back from a lovely 2 night stay at this lovely country inn. 
We arrived not long after 5pm on Saturday and were greeted by Chris the landlord and were checked in promptly. 
There are 8 rooms altogether,  all en suite and all upstairs. Ours was room 8 at the end of the passageway and was warm and comfortable. Plenty of car parking around the back. 
Breakfast and dinner were delicious and very filling,  Chris and his team looked after us very well indeed and made us feel very welcome. 
Yes the place is in a quiet village out in the sticks, but it's not far at all from the A1 (M) , Ripon, Thirsk and York.  
Bear in mind if staying,  check in isn't until 5pm    We hope to return at some point in the near future. 

Weekend Break 

We stayed en route to Guisborough to break the journey up. The landlord actually called us to see if we would want food so they could prepare something before they closed. He was  very attentive, friendly and helpful, from that call to the moment we checked out. Breakfast was delicious.Rooms are spacious, clean with everything you’d need. It’s a typical coaching house. Yes - as others have said, it’s out in the sticks, so peaceful and quiet. It’s not five star luxury, but if you’re looking for homely, welcoming & inviting them I’d definitely recommend. It is off the beaten track, however, if you’re looking to explore the area it’s a perfect base for Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate, York, Sheffield, The Yorkshire Moors and much more.

Little gem off the beaten track

Lovely village pub perfect location for us to visit fountains Abbey rooms were comfortable and lovely and warm its basic but thats all part of the charm of this lovely old pub breakfast was an extra £10 each but was delicious and plenty of it the landlord made sure we were well looked after and had everything we wanted.we had a few drinks in the bar and there was plenty of choice and it was nice and cosy area to catch up with friends. Would stay again.

Great stay, the host was really welcoming and friendly... The staff are fantastic and so helpful.  I had the lamb shank for my meal and the meat just fell off the bone, it was the best lamb shank I've had. My partner had the lasagne and loved it... The drinks were great and the locals were so nice. The room itself was really nice and the beds so comfy.  Would definitely recommend, 5* stay.

One negative, what isn't really a negative.. was that we struggled to lock the door from the inside meaning the door was unlocked throughout the night, probably our fault but might be worth checking out as we checked out without seeing anyone.

Excellent value for money. Lovely greeting from host when we arrived and this friendliness continued throughout our stay from all of the people who work here. The food is exceptionally good, nutritious and all made from scratch cooking. We stayed B & B. The atmosphere is welcoming from those who work here and from the locals. The inside of the building is gorgeous. It has open log fires, which weren't burning when we were there, but we could imagine the lovely sight of logs burning and the heat which would have been generated. Lovely village where this establishment is based, it's very quiet, so if you really want to chill out this is the place to be. I would definitely book into this cosy and well run establishment if I was in this neck of the woods again. WELL DONE to everyone who works here and Good Luck for the future.

If your looking for 5 star hotel then it's not for you. However if you are wanting a cosy friendly place to stay then get there. Room was spotlessly clean. Facilities good. Landlord and all the staff very polite and friendly. Couldn't do enough to help. We had an evening meal in the pub and breakfast the following morning and both were gorgeous. The pub itself was buzzing ,no loud music etc just the locals having a good time. We paid £90 for b&b which is under valued. Get there and support a team that values it's guests!

What a gem

A local inn with rooms. Friendly service and some real characters in the bar. Our room was spacious, clean and totally functional. We also ate there. Decent food with generous portions and sensible prices. . Be aware check in is not to 5pm. The Inn is simply shut before then. Great value and good for a one or two night stay

A lovely break (3 nights) was enjoyed here, Host was great informing us of all we needed to know. I liked the idea of choosing what breakfast option you wanted, even if that meant deciding the night before. Typical Pub arrangement where a number of steps were encountered and therefore not for the immobile i would suggest. Good value.
