We visited this fabulous pub a couple of times whilst holidaying in the area and found it to be a nice and friendly pub. Our visits were primarily an opportunity to have dinner their with our young children (4 & 1 y/o). We found all the staff to be friendly, and the food to be excellent - the curry I had was as good as any I’ve had in a pub. The staff went out of their way to be welcoming to our children and overall we had a great experience. Thoroughly recommend this nice friendly pub.

Large car park only downside it's on the A39 main road which can be hectic at certain times of the day especially during the summer months 

We visited this atmospheric historic pub on a Wednesday and had a tasty light lunch served by Kieran.  Cheese toasties and chips definitely hit the spot. The place is also dog friendly.  We would happily visit again.

We didn't stay here as we were in a caravan nearby but came here twice for a meal. Menu is a bit unusual - choice of burgers, "pub classics" and some small plates, mezze style. I had the small plates both times (best for vegetarians) but my partner tried the gammon and really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and prices very reasonable. Shame it wasn't busier.

Just had a really lovely Sunday lunch at the Butcher's arms, well cooked and very generous at a really reasonable price. Two meats with two types of potatoes and six veg, also very welcoming to children. Would recommend!!

My farther & and had a lovely meal we both had the serf and turf chatting to the land lord who is also the chef new dish’s are due on the menu very soon which I’m looking forward to trying on my next visit I must try the pubs Sunday roast which Ive been told is fantastic

Home cooked food in a great pub

What a fab night totally enjoyed in the pod food was outstanding! Then 10pm told last orders you have to go? Eh 10pm after we spent a lot of money and gave a good tip! Don't get us wrong until that point it was outstanding..hence the next month's food and drink will be somewhere else.

Reunion

I stayed here for two nights in order to attend a local event. I booked bed and breakfast, but later received an e-mail to say that breakfast would not be available (the price would be adjusted accordingly). 

My room was a small double, with not even one chair to put clothes on. The bathroom didn't seem to have been cleaned (the toilet needed flushing!) and towels were brought only as an afterthought. The bathroom plugs had become detached from their chains - two minutes with a pair of pliers would have fixed this. No one attended my room the next day even to empty the bin.

There was a  smoke-alarm  that flooded the bedroom with green light all night.

I ate in the bar once, but found the meal mediocre and the menu limited. The free WiFi in the bar requires registration and is only for 30 minutes - I don't know whether it's possible to keep logging in. As I wasn't in the bar in the mornings, this was of limited use anyway.

Access was via a back entrance, with uneven and badly lit steps. Checking out was not possible until the pub opened at midday. 

Any pluses? Well, the TV worked well, and extra glazing has been put in to reduce the noise from the main road. That's about it.

My room rate was £55 per night (single occupancy) reduced to £45 because of the lack of breakfast. Unless you really want to stay in that location , I'd say go elsewhere (Dunster, Minehead) even if it costs a bit more.

Disapppointing

After a long drive to carhampton for our short break. Before we came check out the pub and food menu  we had decided what we were going to have.  All the reviews were great. 
So we got dressed up and walked to the pub.  To find it was all locked up with closed on the door.
Although on here and everywhere we looked it said it was open.
As there is no where else to eat in the village or no shop we had to go and look for somewhere to eat.

I never give bad reviews but this is needed. Went for Sunday lunch today. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. The beef was inedible and grey, the pork was off and smelly. We called the owner over and told her quietly that the meat was off she said "it can't be as it was fresh today" she brought the chef/owner to us and he said that the meat was "definitely not off" we said it was. He said "it was bought on Friday and cooked today so no way can it be off" We left and when I got outside I realised I had left my cardigan there. My husband went back for it and the chef threw it on the floor and told him to "get out because we were telling the customers that his food was off, THERE WERE NO CUSTOMERS. What disgusts us was his attitude, we were civil, he was arrogant and insulting. We spent £30 on 3 meals which went in the bin and we would have expected the owner to be courteous. We were visitors to the area, and his attitude was rude and aggressive. I would like to rate this premises as zero as everything was disgusting but I am unable to do so. Please do not waste your time and money visiting this place.
