What a lovely 2 night stay. Keith and Lisa were wonderful hosts. Lovely spacious warm rooms with the best views ever. Everything was spotless and very comfortable and the breakfast first class. We will be back very soon thanks. 

We booked this accommodation online and felt that the price of approx £130 a night for the Darrowby suite was great value if it lived up to the hype! We were not at all disappointed. The room was luxuriously comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped with top quality crockery and equipment. There was even a lovely coffee machine to make your own espresso/cappuccino/late. The bathroom was beautiful and sumptuous. 

Only snags, mixer tap worked the wrong way round leading to a bit of confusion. When I called to report the resultant scalding water in the shower the woman who answered the phone was extremely disinterested and rude. I gave up trying to explain my issue to her when she said “yeh alright” with a tone that was straight out of the snarky teenager handbook. This was before 10am so I called back later hoping to get the day staff. The second person I spoke to (Haley I think) coukd not have been nicer, more professional or helpful. 

I haven’t let this hiccup affect my rating as all in all this is a delightful place to stay but I do think they should record calls for staff training purposes!

Absolutely beautiful and cosy stay! Came here for a one night stay as we have been exploring round the Dales. Had everything that we could have asked for, even Netflix on the huge TV! The suites are beautifully decorated and feel like a little piece of luxury hidden in the Dales. One of the comfiest beds we’ve slept on and the bath was lovely! Wish we had booked a couple more nights! Will definitely be back 😍

We stayed here for just one night on a last minute Easter plan. Very comfortable, with thoughtful design and styling apparent throughout. It’s situated in the quaint little village of Askrigg which houses 2 pubs and a bakery / cafe directly opposite the property . Fab service and correspondence before and after booking. 
There are some great walks around the area too. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here or at one of the other similar Maison Parfaite properties in the future.

Not only is this the same Skeldale House used in the original Robert Hardy et al All Creatures Great and Small, not only are the hosts lovely, friendly Yorkshire Folk in a family-owned business who respond almost immediately to text messages, not only in Askrigg a gorgeous, peaceful, beautiful village in Wensleydale, the most beautiful part of God's own country of Yorkshire, not only... the list could go on and on. The real focus however is that the suites in Skeldale House are the very epitome of tasteful and thoughtful decor, of comfort and luxury, and of understated opulence, which evokes the very best of classic and classy yesteryear but with every modern convenience and comfort one could ask for - from the superb coffee machine, hob, and oven in the kitchen, to the excellent radiator heating, to the fabulous drench shower and roll-top bath in the bathroom. I recommend Skeldale House to you without any hesitation, and excitedly look forward to our return.

The property was the filming location for the original recordings of All  Creatures Great and Small. It is a beautiful Victorian building. It is divided into a number of high class apartments. All are similar but vary slightly. The ground floor apartment is even more luxurious and a lot larger and therefore more expensive. We received absolutely outstanding customer service before, during, and after our stay. The local area is a perfect example of delightful Yorkshire countryside. The  views are stunning. There are three great pubs as well as other useful retail establishments on the same street plus a very handy bin for rubbish and dog poo outside the shop nearby! The property is very well equipped. The bed in our floor two apartment, The Drovers suite, was very comfortable. The decor was smashing  and classy and I especially liked the blinds which are not things I would normally refer to in a review! We had non-stop rain during our two night stay but I still can’t praise the place highly enough. I admit I did find the kitchen area and the dining table slightly smaller than I’d expected but they were more than adequate for a short stay. The sink in the ‘musical’ bathroom was also a bit small but very beautiful.The bath was huge.  I was a little wary of the cream carpets but like all good dog owners we came equipped with mats and newspapers to protect the room carpet. The sturdy carpet near the entrance and up the stairs helped as did the towels we brought which we were able to leave near the front door to dry our dog’s muddy feet. I could wax on a further but will leave it at that for now. Overall I would rate Skeldale House as one of the loveliest places in which we have ever stayed. We hope to return this spring or summer (hopefully with less rain.)

Absolutely gorgeous suite, very well equipped and stunning decor.  Loved the added extras, the bottle of Prosecco, robes and lovely toiletries.

Skeldale House has been decorated to an incredible level, and each of the rooms has everything that you could need. Having the kitchenette in the room makes a great alternative to staying in a hotel, and the facilities that they’ve installed are high end.

It was a lovely surprise to also receive a bottle of Prosecco on arrival and Oliver Crocker’s book, “All Memories Great & Small”.

There’s a fantastic bakery/coffee shop over the road, The King’s Arm pub, Sykes for your essentials and a local artists’ cooperative gift shop next door.

I will definitely be staying the next time that I’m in Askrigg.

What a find and so lucky that we managed to get in for the bank holiday weekend too. We stayed  in the Jane Austen suite with our dog and it was absolutely fabulous in every way. Beautifully decorated, extremely well equipped and just a real home from home place to stay. Lovely deli and pubs all serving great food just a stones throw away and walks to die for too. The place has just been renovated and the trip advisor photos aren’t up to date so here are mine.

We have just stayed 2 nights (2 adults and an 11 year old) in the Herriot suite at Skeldale House and I can honestly say we didn’t want to leave. 

An absolutely stunning apartment beautifully restored and decorated in a period style with luxurious carpets and furnishings. 

The photos on trip adviser are very out of date so will upload some of our stay. 

Absolutely spotless on arrival with everything you need kitchen wise, a free bottle of Prosecco!

Thoughtful provision of milk, tea bags and coffee as well as plenty of loo roll.

Great communication from the hosts as well.
 Cannot recommend highly enough and we can’t wait to come back.

Check out The Bakewell right opposite for bacon rolls and cakes to die for. The local pubs all within a very short stroll all have great food too.

Beautiful and cosy stay

We were in one of the smaller studios, but there was reasonably good storage space and an exceptionally well equipped kitchenette. We were very comfortable. The property  perfectly combined old-world nostalgia and modern convenience. We stayed for a week and found it to be a great base for exploring the Dales. The lack of onsite administration made it feel a little impersonal. The bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch. Our towels were not changed during our stay, and we had to buy toilet paper. Some information on local attractions and restaurants would have been helpful.
Car parking might be an issue during peak holiday periods. The village was busy during our visit, but we were able to park in the little carpark at the top of the village, or find a spot on the street.

We had a wonderful stay at Skeldale House, which has been beautifully refurbished by Maison Parfaite. We had never stayed in a holiday let before, so didn't know exactly what to expect. We stayed in the Drovers room where the kitchen has everything you need: plates, cups, cutlery, coffee machine, oven, toaster, fresh milk in fridge and even a complimentary bottle of prosecco. Over the road there is a really nice cafe that also sells frozen meals should you need, though we can also recommend the Wensleydale Heifer, which was an excellent restaurant and a short drive away. The bathroom has lovely shower gels, hand creams etc. The room was clean, exquisitely decorated and the bed was very comfortable indeed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for anyone looking for a really comfortable base and to make your holiday your own and do what you want, when you want.
