I had a wonderful stay at Shalom Guesthouse in Port of Spain. It is located in a quiet and safe area. The room is spacious, with a mini fridge, which is great for cooling food and drinks and a table, which is practical for working, an en-suite bathroom and even a little terrace. The owner was very helpful with everything, like directions and other information. A delicious breakfast was served to my room. I could rest well here, can highly recommend this accommodation. :)

I had a great stay at this warm, family-run guesthouse. The room was very comfortable, wifi strong and great running water! The hosts were kind and warm plus the location was excellent. Close enough to downtown but far away enough as well! I definitely will be back next time I roll through T&T!

Last min booking but had a great 2 night stay here. I canme in at 1am and they waited for me then gave me a breakfast next morning to my room. This family is awsome.  Ch3cked up on me adter i left.

The hosts here are incredible. I've stayed in places from Hawaii to Kenya, in various locations that range from hostels to 5 star luxury safari's.  This was a surprise trip for my girlfriend to visit the country her family is from.  Her family kept wondering if she would be safe.  We couldn't have felt safer and more watched over.  I loved the fact that the hosts are nearby, easily reachable, and give us various restaurant recommendations.  The hosts husband is very much appreciated as a driver when we're in need. The real testament is, I extended our stay here when I actually have another hotel paid for somewhere else. Think about that when reading this review... I was so happy with our location and hosts.. we didn't want to leave.

My flight was a mess, I came in at 3. And I was still able to check in around 4. The host was very helpful with everything

This is my third visit to Trinidad with the two previous stays at Abercrombie Inn.
This time I've decided to stay at Shalom, not that I would be treated with hospitality.
I do believe that 4 days vacation was not enough.
Well the next time, I'll be spending at least 1 month.

This Guest House is owned by the nicest family.  They went above and beyond to make sure that my short time in Port of Spain went well.  I am so blessed to have met them.

The best place to be

Group of 3 of us stayed at Shalom Guesthouse for a couple of nights while in transit to the US. 
Cherise gave us such a warm welcome and went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. She arranged taxis and for people to accompany us to new places. There was free wifi, air con and complementary snacks in the room. The beds were comfy and the showers were fine. The breakfast every morning was a nice touch and different every day. 
Really recommend for a homely place to stay for a few days. 

A great welcome to Trinidad 

Thank you very much to Shirley who is a wonderful person, very kind and available. I only spent one night but my boyfriend stayed more and, as he doesn't speak English, se helped him a lot!
The place is out of the city, up the hill, no buses drive there, but if you don't have a car (I didn't) you can reach the place by route-car with little cost.
