Cosy Hotel & Restaurant

This was a great choice for a few days in Jaffna.

I have just enjoyed the most delicious crab curry at the Cosy Hotel & Restaurant. The restaurant has a lovely courtyard dining area at the rear and although not licensed allows BYO. The waiters were most attentive and directed me to the nearest bottle shop to get beers to go with my meal. The crab curry is perhaps the best I have eaten (across India and south-east Asia) and a freshly tandoored naan to go with. I can't recommend this place enough and seemingly popular with locals and tourists alike. 

Cosy Hotel & Restaurant was a great find for us in Jaffna - we arrived without a booking - checked about 5 other places - some slightly cheaper - NOT GOOD  - 
Cosy lives up to it's name - at first glance a mid- range hotel - upon request - serious discounts are given -  clean - hospitable - Great food  - restaurant  open 11 am - 11pm - FREE room service - daily cleaning -

Don't eat inside at the front area - ask to go through to the back to the traditional part of the building. Tables undercover around the central open roof. Plenty of vegetarian options. Looking around it seemed that BYO alcohol was accepted. Particularly good breads from the big oven.

The building here is a bit old, and you can see the wear and tear in the space, but that just makes it interesting.  This is a great, central, inexpensive space to stay when you see Jaffna.  There's a restaurant below- a big cafeteria style front and a slightly hidden secret courtyard in back which is a beautiful place to spend an evening.I would spring for a room with AC, though, if you're new to SL.  I was shocked at how much hotter Jaffna is than the rest of the country.The staff are lovely and sweet! Really friendly customer service.

A cheap room at a cheap price. The main hilight is the tandor oven. Great tandoori chicken, nan breads etc. etc.

It was a short stay, But it was OK for a small town

Pretty convenient locations but the room is a bit dusty. Having AC is definitely helpful. Staff are friendly and helpful. Clean bathroom.

Pros: convenient location; good restaurant for dinner; large room and bathroomCons: door lock was tricky; things supposedly provided were not until I pressed (free bottled water, coffee makings); overall bleak atmosphereOkay for one night, but I would not have wanted to stay there any longer.

SHORT STAY

Really nice little hotel

We ate at the restaurant attracted by the tandoori menu. We had naans (good) and chicken tikka (good flavour but tough and only got 6 small pieces for 700Rs). Vegetable curry was dull and also overpriced. Worst was the near impossibility of getting the waiter's attention and the fact that we waited nearly an hour for the food.
