We stayed at the DoubleTree Upper East Side in Cape Town for one night at the end of September. The room wasn’t brand new, but it was very comfortable and well-equipped with nice amenities. The highlight of our stay, however, was the dinner at the hotel restaurant. Tyler, our waiter, along with the kitchen team, went above and beyond to make our last evening in South Africa truly special. A huge thank you to them for accommodating a special request from our child for pasta Bolognese – they even brought a sample of the sauce for her to taste before serving the full dish, ensuring it was perfect. Tyler was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the Springbok steak, which was outstanding. My wife tried the beef steak, and it was fantastic as well. The combination of attentive service, delicious food, and the team’s genuine care made our short stay memorable.

The property will undergo roof replacement work from 10 August to 15 September 2025. This is a mandatory project to maintain the building's standards as the current roof has reached the end of its useful life. Solar panels will also be installed as part of the Hilton Green Stay environmental program and to provide backup power during power outages in South Africa.

The greatest impact is expected in the Loft Suites located on the top floor. The contractor will take steps to minimize disruption, however, there may be increased noise levels from 09:00 to 16:00 during the removal of gutters, replacement of roofing sheets and installation of solar panels. The work schedule (4-5 weeks) is subject to adjustment depending on weather conditions and safety requirements.
