Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riad Amana. Great location within the medina, and really friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean. It should be noted, however, that the medina is loud at night. That is not a criticism of Riad Amana, as it probably applies to all hotels and riads within the medina. We didn't mind, but if you're a light sleeper you'd probably prefer staying in a hotel outside of the medina.

Great stay at this centrally located property in the Medina!

A very charming well situated riad. We had a lovely room - everything was spotless - and we enjoyed relaxing on the pretty roof terrace. The freshly made pancakes at breakfast were delicious!  The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful 🙂. We would love to go back.

Wonderful stay at Riad Amana. I loved every part of it. The riad is beautiful, clean, warm, with a real human soul and located just in the center of action, 20 steps into the main street and 5 mins walking distance from every part in Essaouira. The whole staff is incredible and you will feel Myriam and Fatima are your longtime friends.Will come back, thank you!

The riad is beautifully decorated, very quiet but right in the middle of the souk. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and we felt like a part of the family after 2 days. The terrace room was lovely - tasteful and stylish decoration, huge and unusual. We loved it. We had a cookery class at the riad with Fatima. After shopping with her in the market we cooked a chicken tagine with aubergine salad. It was a lot of fun and food always gets to the heart of a culture. Of course the best part was eating it. Thank you to Meryem and all the staff for making our stay so special and memorable.

Great reception on arrival. The staff is kind and super friendly. Having breakfast was a real treat. You can customize it as you want. And because of the communal table, you can have conversations with other travelers. I would definitely recommend this place to both families, couples or solo travelers. Thank you Meriem.

We booked the Marrakesh suite and were very pleasantly surprised. It is spacious and very comfortable. From the outside the riad does not look inviting but inside it's lovely.
Miriam is a very attentive hostess and nothing was too much trouble. They even allowed us to put our own wine in their fridge and drink it with our evening meal.
The owner of the riad and his family were staying there and treated us in a very friendly way.
The situation is good and quite easy to find . I would certainly choose to stay there again. Many thanks to all the staff who were exceptionally kind and friendly.

An excellent choice.

This is a lovely riad, in the heart of the Medina. Our room overlooked an alley, and was not soundproofed, so we did not sleep well on some nights, but the riad was otherwise delightful. Breakfast was simple and served at a communal table, which did not suit us, but was not the end of the world. Ask for a room away from the alley and you will enjoy a great stay (and a good sleep) in a beautiful establishment.

This is a really pleasant riad in the centre of the Esauira Medina. Don't be fooled by the ghastly exterior, which makes you think you have definitely booked the wrong place, as once the door is opened you are in a surprising oasis of calm and elegance which belies the crumbling plaster and the dirty old sign. It was indeed a relief to be gathered within the graceful and stylish inner sanctum, with it's traditional decor and light, spacious ambience, as the dirty alley and begrimed facade had made me fear the worst.

After check-in, which was relaxed but thorough, we were delighted to be shown into our beautiful, authentically decorated and spacious rooms. The bathroom was plenty large enough, and we had two seating areas, both of which were comfortable, and a large bed with comfy linen.

We had a couple of issues with this riad, the main one being that the windows and shutters do not block out noise, so conversations, kids playing, carts being pulled about etc were all quite loud, and sleep was not completely tranquil on some nights. I guess one can't really moan about the call to prayer when you stay in the Medina, but the Fajar pre-sunrise call is so loud that it might aswell have been taking place beside the bed, which was not completely welcome at about 5.55am. Also, the shower takes AGES to warm up, therefore wasting a LOT of water, and when it does get there, the temperature can fluctuate wildly and abruptly, insuring a constant sense of fear and alert instead of relaxation, as the cascade of water could potentially scold or freeze you at any moment. There is no heating or Aircon in the rooms, which was just about fine for us in late September, but in the furnace of summer or on a chilly winter's night, the lack of interior climate change might be troublesome. Breakfast was quite simple but pleasant enough, but it was served at a single, communal table, which might not suit everyone. Including us. Finally, we had a bulb out in the middle seating area, which we alerted staff to on the second day, but four days later nothing had been done to correct the problem. 

Overall I would recommend this riad, and I would possibly return, but not to a room above the alley.

Lovely Riad in the heart of Esauira Medina

Right off a main walkway in the middle of the medina (old town).  The inside is like a quiet oasis from the bustle outside, each room decorated different. My first stay in a riad. Traditional but modern.  Not accessable by car, about a 10 walk from road. If you have luggage, there are porters with wagons that will pull your stuff for you.

We stayed one night in the Indigo Suite and we couldn't be happier. It was like living in a palace after all the small and crampy rooms we've had before in Morocco. 

It was exceptionally clean and incredibly spacious. The bathroom was huge though the shower was missing any kind of lighting. 

It was very quiet and cozy. We're quite sure that aside from one lady taking care of the hotel we were the only ones on the premises. The street noise was minimal thanks to proper glass windows. 

The service was very friendly exceptionally helpful. 

The location is also perfect, close to any Essaouira attractions.

Spacious!

Fatima was a gracious host and helped us find things we were looking for. At this time, there is no breakfast, although previous reviewers had suggested breakfast was available. Perhaps if you paid extra, I'm not sure. I thought that this riad was poorer value than others we had stayed in Morocco. We spent 412 Dh. Comfortable room with a sort of TV lounge attached. (TV didn't work). Very poor, dim lighting and a plugged shower in Room # 2 (Lilas). Convenient location close to most of the souks and near the port area...
