Ijen Adventure Inn 

The time that we spent at Ijen Adventure Inn with Supri, Ari and family was truly perfect. You venture into the mountains to a small community village where you are welcomed into the heart of Ari and his family's home. We stayed here for 4 nights over around a week and booked with Supri our trek of Kawah Ijen to see the blue fire and acidic lake, and also our 2 day trip to the turtle conservation area of the national part (South Java). Supri is a fantastic host who speaks excellent English- making sure you get to and from the homestay (Ari gave us lifts around the surrounding area- inc. Harbour pick up which you shall definitely need- to the mountain, to a restaurant and too the train station at the end of our stay). We were given dinner, coffee, fruits (all for free) and were even invited to join a community wedding that was happening through out our stay. The homestay is a stay in an indonesian family home (bathroom and all), and is a once in a lifttime experience to be welcomed into the family. Ari is one of the most inspirational people we have ever met- Ari has worked and still works as a sulphur minor in Kawah Ijen for 26 years to provide for his family- and once you see these minors at work and the danger they face, about the company they work for (no insurance or contracts), it becomes an honour to stay in their home. I could go on forever about how good our stay here was, and about how amazing the tours and tour guides were. You get a true insight into the nature of the indonesian people here- up in the mountains away from the dense cities and smog.
