This is a very big hotel! But you may want to check ahead if there is an event taking place there! We stayed there when there was a  young girl's dance/gymnastics competition taking place at the hotel! It was so crowded, and there were children running all over the place and playing with the elevator buttons. We couldn't even get a cup of coffee in the morning.... the restaurant was so crowded.
There is a garage attached to the hotel. But if you have luggage, you are going to have a hike carrying it to your room. When we were there, we could not find any luggage carriers. 
Our room was clean and the beds were fine, but I wish there was a refrig and microwave in the room.

My wife, Judy, is a graduate of Spartanburg High School and we stayed two days at the Spartanburg Marriott hotel recently to enjoy it.
The beautiful entryway, huge lobby is a marble-lover's dream. Also, near the restaurant/bar entrance is a lovely geometrically stunning floor.
The staff was delightful, helpful and courteous.
But there was one unusual thing I particularly enjoyed: the very strong water pressure in our room, made showering a pleasure, not a chore. Perhaps the 6" wide Kohler shower head made the experience even better!
Complimentary Wall Street Journal newspapers, free underground parking, delightful bar area, easy access to the downtown shopping district and more.
If you don't like this place, you probably just don't like travel!

Excellent Reunion Venue

We attended a dance weekend at this location for the second year. How things change. The room was not cleaned well with debris on the floor. The amenity dispensers in the shower/bath were empty. The ice bucket was missing with only the lid left on the dresser. We had to make three requests and it took until the next day to get an ice bucket. Once we acquired the bucket we found the ice machine inoperable. The television reception was not good, signal sporadic and final went out completely.  We stay at different hotels often while traveling. Holiday Inn, Hilton, and others always have complimentary coffee. Not here. 5 dollars for a small cup at the Starbucks in the lobby served up by a barista that was zombie-like and seemed bothered by having to serve up the overpriced brew. 
The temperature was set at 67 degrees F in the room, not adjustable from the in-room thermostat. Our friends said they had to request a space heater to offset the temperature in their room. On checkout, the person checking out in front of us was asked how his stay was. He replied, " You people just do not do a good job here."  We agree totally.

Comedy of Errors

This used to be the nicest hotel in town and now it is barely what I would consider a 3 star hotel on a good day. The check-in experience was painfully slow and lacked any sense of welcoming. Upon arriving in our room, we discovered only 1 set of towels, no bath mat or hand soap, only 3 pillows on one bed while the other had 4 and only 1 pack of coffee and it was decaf. I tried calling AYS 3 times letting it ring for 20 times each and then finally resorted to using my cell to call the hotel and I finally got an answer. In addition to asking for additional towels and coffee, I asked for a luggage rack as there was not one in the room to which the agent (same one that checked me in) said they were located at the front door. When I explained what a luggage rack was (vs a luggage cart), he said the hotel did not have them. The room itself is very tired and in need of refurbishing as well as repair. Torn wallpaper, broken shade pulls, breaks in the tile are just a few issues. Dusting also sees to be non-existing as well as there was at least an inch on the air and vent returns. 

Prior to arrival, I received an email from the front office manager indicating “we are in the process of returning to normal operations”. Seriously other hotels are back to operating as they were pre-Covid, not sure you can keep milking the Covid excuse for what truly appears to be lack of care.  Mr. Marriott Sr would turn in his grave if he set foot in this hotel. Sadly since Mr. Marriott Jr stepped down and the company acquired Starwood, the quality of product and service at Marriott worldwide has been on a downward spiral and this hotel is leading the way.

Sad & Tired

Highly recommend this place for rest or business . Good bar, rooms, workout room, view and restaurant - great show shine guy!

This place is great for wedding receptions and proms as well as private parties

Great location and property

Spent three nights at this hotel for a national convention.This hotel is a typical convention hotel with  fairly large ballrooms and meeting spaces.     The front office staff were very friendly during check in and check out.  The food that was served for dinner was decent. My room was clean and I had great stay. I highly recommend the Jamican resteraunt next store.

Convention Hotel 

I will start with the positives and the main positive of note was the staff in the lobby. They are very friendly and pleasant to talk to. They give a great first impression when checking in.
+ The lobby is clean and smells great
+ Bar had Starbucks drinks
+ Parking is easy in the huge underground deck
+ Large pull off area by front door makes it easy for check in
+ Good location to walk to restaurants

The Cons
- No daily housekeeping services available all. It is not even an option.
- Not a fan of the housekeeping team that was there (See Below)
- Room was missing conditioner, hand towels, and washcloths *Asked the front desk to get some sent up and housekeeping brought more shampoo not conditioner. Had to call down again to get conditioner that came on second try.
- On booking we noted 2 adults and 1 child in a room with king and a pull out bed. Yet Marriott never seems to provide the linens for that pull out bed. I always have to call front desk to get them sent up. This is super annoying to me. Marriott you know we are going to use the bed why not put the linens in the room? Housekeeping did bring the linens to the room while we were out and they just threw them on the floor in a garbage bag. Note: I had already pulled out the bed so it was ready to be made. Nothing but top class service at this hotel provided by me :). 
- The Shampoo, Soap, etc is a random mystery selection. They were all different brands. Again very odd but they work so not major. 
- Rooms need to be updated and show age. Our pull rod for the shades was laying on the floor when we came in and the AC was very inconsistent. Day one it was set to 70 and was freezing, The next night had to turn down to 67 and it still was warm.
- Super loud at night from hallway noise and all the door slam. This is not the guest fault they just slam not matter what. So when you have a bunch of people coming back from a on site wedding there is a ton of door slamming until about 1am.  

Overall it was just OK. Not terrible but defiantly had some annoyances.  I will most likely try a different property the next time we are in town.

Just your average Marriott and average all around

As others have mentioned, this hotel is old and in need of an update. That has not been my biggest issue, however. 

I got a flat tire and ended up stranded three hours from home. Thankfully, I could safely get the car back to the hotel. I went in and told the management about the issue, gave them my license plate number I told them I was in need of a tow truck. Despite that, their security guard came up to me and asked what I was doing there. I told him I was a guest at the hotel and I had cleared it with the desk. He looked at me skeptically (as if I was lying and just wanted an easy parking spot).

Stranded due to a flat tire, I walked somewhere to get something to eat. I came back to find a threatening note on my car about parking in an area that was meant for check-in. 

I just paid an exorbitant rate to stay two nights at this hotel (in need of updates), am a part of their “rewards” program, cleared everything through the front desk.,,I’m stranded three hours from home only to have a harassing note on my car.

They could’ve been a beacon of supporting light when I needed it. Unfortunately, they were the opposite. 

Try another hotel. One that cares about their guests.

Disappointing support when I needed it most.

Recently stayed at the Spartanburg Marriott for two nights.  The hotel appears to be a little older, but is well maintained.  We stayed in a King room with a nice view of Spartanburg.  There was a small fridge. The bed was super comfortable and the room was spacious.  There was a full-size sofa in the room.  The bathroom was large and the shower was fantastic.  Just the right amount of water pressure and hot water.

Housekeeping was not offered, which I prefer, but it would have been nice to have some extra towels already in the room.

The heating/air in my room never worked.  The fan wouldn't even kick on, so I was a little hot when sleeping.  I was gone most the day, otherwise I would have had maintenance check it out.  I didn't want to have someone enter my room when I wasn't there.

My biggest complaint, aside from the hot room, was the lack of luggage carts.  We had to make two trips from the garage just to get our things to our room.  With no bellperson available, the property should invest in extra carts for the convenience of its guests.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay.  I appreciated being able to walk over to local restaurants and I could easily get to my even venue, bank and grocery store.  I would definitely stay here again.

Nice Stay

The hotel has all the amenities you’d be looking for when traveling. The gym, restaurant, bar, and M club are all fantastic. The employees have a high level of customer service and they truly make you feel like you’re at home when traveling. It is a large hotel in the center of town with many great restaurants within walking distance.
