We had a really nice stay with Joan and Chris,who  made us feel very welcome. nothing was to much trouble. The room was very spacious and comfortable and so peaceful.The breakfast was excellent and set you up nicely for the day. It is in a good position for walking round Old Shanklin and very handy for the local transport.

Altogether brilliant experience from owners,staff,breakfast and helpfulness,nothing seems to much trouble to all of them,and no restrictions on movements in and out of the hotel.Parking is enough and Shanklin itself with the Old Village with all it's quaintness to the beautiful promenade and beaches.

We recently enjoyed a four night stay at Haynes Barton. We were kindly welcomed by hosts Joan and Chris.  Joan showed us to our room which was excellent, well appointed and immaculately clean.  We enjoyed the pleasant garden and the exceptionally good breakfast. 
The hotel is ideally situated in a quiet area  within a few minutes walk to the main centre of Old Shanklin with its pubs and restaurants. 
There is a large and attractive recreation ground within a few hundred yards of the hotel that we found ideal for running our dog. There is also a children’s play area and a duck pond. 
This has to be one of the best places we have stayed and we would definitely stay there again the next time we visit the Isle of Wight.

Delightful hosts, beautifully appointed room with lots of nice touches, superb breakfast and a lovely garden to relax in the sun. Short walk to the village for your daily paper. Very good value. Will definitely be back.

Hayes Barton is the most friendly place to stay.  The couple who run it, Joan and Chris, are very welcoming and nothing is to much trouble for them.  The breakfast is delicious with the best scrambled egg in England.  I am gluten free and felt safe eating.  The whole place is wonderfully clean and well presented.  We will definitely be visiting again

The B & B has not changed much since it no longer does evening meals, it certainly has retained it's top class standards and superb breakfasts, the rooms are clean and airy, the location is also excellent as it is close enough to the town and beach to be a short walk but far away enough to be quiet and peaceful and the garden certainly a nice place to have that cuppa that was offered on arrival to chill and know you have arrived. Shanklin has a good range of eateries that should please most and a really good bus service for the island. It is a place my wife and I have been many times and may there be many more. The owners are really good friendly, informative and sorted out the crossing at a decent price couldn't ask for better.   

A great experience from the start. We were greeted by Joan with the offer of tea/coffee which were served by Chris in the peaceful garden. The room was good, bed very comfortable.
Breakfasts were superb with a good choice of cereals, juice, fruit and a cooked menu range from porridge (my favourite) to a full cooked.
There is a stand with leaflets for island attractions, and Joan maintains a list of places to eat which have been recommended by guests and which are good for catering for dietary allergies.


Having been coming to the island for many years this is the only place I would stay. Friendly, clean, and so comfortable. Breakfast is amazing with so much choice.
As B&Bs go and having staed in many over the years this is the benchmark. The best.
Great for singles or families, close to the shops and so many eateries, the best location. Definitely coming back. 

A beautiful hotel, comfortable, well furnished and immaculately clean. Joan & Chris (and all the staff) are amazing, and always so warm and welcoming, it almost feels like coming home.
Breakfast is first rate (have the sausages).
Would give 6 stars if I could.

vary friendly owners makes you feel really welcome . wouldn’t stay anywhere Eles on the island definitely recommended found this little gem 14 years ago been coming back at least once a year ever since
