I have been going to this pub a fair bit since it recently re-opened. It is a nice pub and always made to feel welcome, the fire is usually lit as well which is a real bonus. I have to say the beer is clearly very well managed as it tastes perfect.

I have not yet sampled the food but will do soon.

A real pub welcome, roaring fire and exceptional food. Thank you Mark, Jamie & Daz for making us feel like locals from the moment we set foot in the bar.... we'll definitely be returning soon for more beer, food, banter and laughter at this gem of a pub,

Absolutely gorgeous lunch… went in for a quick drink after a long walk in the area (AMAZING views from the garden) really warm welcome to a beautiful traditional pub, and ended up staying for lunch. We struggled to decide as the menu was all really tempting, and all of us were really pleased with our lunch choices - fresh, home cooked, so tasty and comforting. 

Under recent new management and you can tell they’re putting in a lot of effort and love to the place- it was warm, welcoming and clean- would recommend to anyone visiting the area and already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing stay. Sad to leave thank you very much for an exceptional service. Food was tasty, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We have travelled around Devon and Cornwall. This is a must stay for anyone in the area.

Just popped in for a drink on the evening as food had stopped. Lovely atmosphere, great people and welcoming landlady. Had breakfast the following day which was very nice and plentiful. Stayed for free in their car park which was perfectly adequate 

Stoped here on a Sunday looking for a pup lunch, the barman almost apologised as they were only doing the Sunday Roast,, he didn’t need to as there was great choice, beef, pork, turkey, we both went for the Turkey , well when it arrived it was like a Christmas dinner just with our stuffing,

For the price you could not get better, the veg was a little soft but everything was very tasty,, thank you

Great place great people enjoyed joining in with the quiz unfortunately we were to late for food but had a amazingly cheap breakfast in the morning. The choice of ciders and beer are great. The pub itself is very old and original will definitely be visiting again   Keep up the good work

Stayed for free in the car park using our campervan. The staff were amazing, the food was great and the play park of the kids was brilliant. Highly recommend stoppping overnight here and enjoying the homemade food.

This place could not have been more perfect, no WiFi, no phone signal, no tv in the pub , people talked! 
My wife and I were in desperate need of a break from the rat race and couldn’t believe how peaceful it was in the time we were there, we stayed 3 nights and would have stayed on had we not have had to return home for a 60th birthday,  from the wonderful Anna and Brian running the pub to the customers  and Sue who did our breakfast also ,  they all made us so welcome we were so lucky, 
It’s no frills kind of pub , but good honest hospitality, we ate there every night and enjoyed the food, plenty of it but don’t ask for desserts, they don’t have any, it’s a good 5 & 1/2 hours drive from us but we’re already planning our next trip , good base for St Ives or Penzance or any other spots in the area , nothing outside the pub in the way of shops , in the middle of nowhere kinda, good size car park across the road.
Seriously can’t wait to return for some more get away from it all break.

We stayed across the road in our motorhome and went here for a few drinks and a meal.  Staff were really friendly.  I think the menu is possibly a different theme each night and we were there on the USA night.   We both had the burgers which were amazing, stacked with bacon, cheese and onion rings.   Very dog friendly which was great as we have 2 little dogs.

Great pub, very friendly locals, brilliant atmosphere, but drinks were expensive. £10 double smirnoff and coke, would definately return but work more overtime 😫 first. As a bonus for my grandson had a pool table. Was very handy for us as had overnight motorhome parking in there carpark over the road, which was free as long as you buy a drink or 2. Hmm 😒 🤔

Warm and welcoming - GORGEOUS lunch

We had phoned ahead to arrange to stay in our motorhome in the car park and were pre-warned in a very friendly way that it was fish Friday - fish & chips/ scampi & fries or a vegan option. 

When we arrived we called in for an afternoon drink to find, to my great delight, that this is a “proper pub”. Flagstone floors, character features, good ales, friendly landlady, landlord & staff and friendly locals. 

On our return later for food the fish & chips was excellent - lovely crisp thin batter on a large portion of fish. My scampi were good too. The pub was in full swing. Lots of friendly laughing joking chatty locals. 

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Fantastic burgers!

We had such a lovely stay at the Engine Inn! The countryside views from the garden are absolutely stunning, the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and chat with the locals. Owner Bianca was so friendly, and she offers an amazing full breakfast for a great value. The rooms are very cozy, with the exposed beams and rustic decor reminiscent of a simpler time. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice country escape!

Thank you to Karen and Adrian for making us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble.  The pub has a real friendly atmosphere where locals make you feel part of the community. The accommodation across the yard was very pleasant and spacious. The king size bed was very comfortable.It is not far from St Ives and Penzance but you do need a car.

Great Rural Pub

The guest house itself is located at the back of the pub while facing a beautiful country side view.  Rooms are nicely decorated and the bed is comfortable. The best part about the experience was definitely the hotel staff! Everyone was so friendly and easy to talk to. Instead of given a breakfast menu to choose from, we were told the chef could make anything that we want. Because we have to leave early on the second day, the owner brought us takeaway breakfast to make sure we had something to eat in the morning. She even called us a taxi to ensure we get on coaches on time. The disavantage is that there were no signal or wifi in the inn. You would have to come to the pub for wifi. The inn is located somewhere between St Ive's and penzance. There is only one bus that goes past the hotel, so it may be less suitable for those thinking of traveling around cornwall without a car.

A wonderful stay

Lovely Pub and very dog friendly..Would recommend the Pulled Pork absolutely delicious..Great room which is ideal if you need to come back early, Maybe because of weather as it's separate to the Pub..Very quiet..Only qualm was maybe the Wet Room needs tidying up a bit..Will definitely go there again if we are in those parts again....
