We only stayed one might but were so pleased with the whole experience we will go again and stay longer. The Owners are very local and only took over in January 2024. The staff are excellent and the food delicious. The room in the annex was well furnished with great taste and very comfortable. It will be a wonderful location in the summer having a huge lawn area with a magnificent view. Good value for money. Room charge only and breakfast extra but you pay for what you get. Full English at £12.50 was excellent and plentiful.

A little gem!

Had heard the Winyard’s Gap had new management  so decided to go for lunch we’d been on numerous previous occasions and never been impressed but what a lovely surprise. The place was transformed very welcoming and the food excellent. We made our choices from the specials board. We shared the Wild Garlic Pesto, Tomato & Mozzarella Tart for starter it was to die for then we both had the Lamb Neck Fillet, Pan Fried New Potatoes, Tender-stem Broccoli, Caramelised Onion, Salsa Verde & Lame Jus. Could have done with a little more Jus but it was lovely. Cooked to our liking on the rear side but for those who like there Lamb a little less pink you should ask, we weren't. We left nothing on the plate it was that good. For dessert my wife had the Cheese cake, stem ginger and I had the Chocolate Ale Cake again empty plates to testify how good it was. Only one member of staff didn't have a smile but she might be having a bad day.

Great News Winyard's Gap a good place to eat.

I spent a few hours in here finishing a book. I arrived about 11 and left mid afternoon. The pub had a warm and inviting atmosphere with a real fire, comfortable furniture, great views and welcoming staff. I had a burger with fries which was super tasty and filling plus a couple of drinks and two decaf coffees which were very good. The staff were attentive and efficient without being intrusive. I didn’t go into the restaurant area but it seemed well patronised. There is a great outdoor seating area with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside which would be great on a dry, sunny day. Highly recommended.

We spent  a night in the studio. The room was well appointed and well presented. We were only there overnight so did not use the kitchenette which has  hob, oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher - so would be good if you wanted to self cater. 
The bard and restaurant is very pleasant too. Our breakfast was good and can recommend the Eggs Benedict. 
This is a dog friendly place with excellent walks in the Dorset countryside  

Overnight visit did not disappoint 

We had one of the studio rooms, which on first impressions looked good.   
We started to notice a few things...sink in the kitchen was dirty, and the kitchen bin was broken.
The shower did not have any hot water, we did mention this the first night but still not working on 2nd night.
Then on the 2nd morning we lost all water, meaning that no cups of tea, no flushing of loo and no shower or brushing of teeth.

The food however, was amazing.  Friendly service and top notch menu.  Compliments to the chef.

Would we stay again.....yes but under new management or when they get a good handy man. 

Amazing food and views, room could do with a few tweaks

Lovely spacious purpose built accommodation. Pleasant breakfast.

Great food, incredible venue - went with our dog & baby. Smashing staff, very helpful. Really accommodating manager, best meal of our holiday. The views from this place are astounding, nice typical pub-grub style food in addition to some more restaurant style dishes if you want to go inside and eat. 

We had the Scallops to start which were amazing, my partner had the lamb which was cooked to perfection & I had a pulled beef Burger which was enormous.... just what I wanted! We finished with a Crunchy Cheesecake that was as good as it sounds.

The venue did have a few stairs with no ramp, so we did have to lift the buggy up and down - that really is my only criticism (which wasn't a massive issue for us tbh but worth knowing if you go in a wheelchair!) and everything else was outstanding from a great team in a really fab place. 

Go to this place for a drink and some food, it's money well spent!

Great Food, perfect venue for Families with Dogs....

My wife and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Winyards Gap Inn and I have to say it was one of the best stays we have had in this country.  
We stayed with our 2 little dogs and both Annie and Mia were both made most welcome as were we!
We had planned to stay nearer the coast, Charmouth or Lyme Regis but either no hotels were available or were ridiculously expensive.  Winyards Gap was about 30 mins. from the coast and Dorchester so an easy drive. As to the Inn itself, the room was spotless and the pub was great. I must  praise the chef and his staff . We ate there every night and the menu was varied,  excellent and reasonably priced . ( If only there was a pub like this near where we live in S.E. London.)  Others on this page have praised the food and I must agree with them but then I must include Graham and all the rest of the bar staff as well. Always available and helpful and I loved the " Poretti" lager.  Again a great place to stay, its only minor drawback , its isolated location.

Great place, great people

Lovely little find with a fabulous view . Our food was delicious and well priced . In Fact the vegetation curry with cauliflower was so tasty we’ve emailed them for the recipe . Staff were all lovely and very helpful , and very nice evening will go back for sure

Nice food , nice staff , nice view 10/10

The rooms are lovely but do not stay in Room 3 on a hot summer's day.
It gets too hot (room temperature 30 degrees!)
Underfloor heating was on and the staff available did not know how to switch off!
There are no instructions in the room.
A very uncomfortable evening.
The wardrobe is unusable due to heat in there.
It definitely needs air conditioning (roof window and fan not good enough)

An email was sent to the team and a converstion with reception staff. Awaiting a response.
