Absolutely amazing place to stay! We stayed in Daisy's Shepherds Hut. Very private and nobody in sight! The mattress gave us the best night's sleep. Absolutely gorgeous setting and Sally was fantastic! The most romantic weekend away 😍 Short walk to village, where we found a fab community shop, a telephone box full of books and a great pub! A MUST for those who love luxury remote retreats!

We stayed at squirrels lodge at west down farm and it was wonderful, the place was immaculate, it was cosy and so peaceful. The hot tub was ready to go when we got there as well as complimentary cup cakes. I would go back in a heart beat, waking up with beautiful views of the country side and the birdsong. 10 out of 10.

Not the Hilton but a very comfortable well lived in family farm house. Traditional feel with a bonus of hot tub and sauna and we enjoyed both. For a large family gathering (4households, 8 grandchildren and 2 dogs!) celebrating a big birthday it was ideal. Relaxed! The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We would return!

Fantastic stay, friendly & attentive owners! Great facilities and nearby to shops/pubs. Beautiful house, could do with some minor improvements/refreshing in some rooms but overall perfect for what we wanted 🏡 

MORE DETAIL: 

On the driveway up to the house we were greeted by some of their beautiful horses in the fields, which the children loved to go and see throughout the week and the kind children who worked on the farm allowed us to pet the horses which was lovely. Being from the city this was lovely for us to experience. 

The views from the back of the house was absolutely stunning and most rooms were very well presented and very comfy. 

On arrival there was quite a few flies in the house but being next to a farm it was expected.

Lots of bathrooms was a bonus and most rooms have en-suites which was fantastic for the rooms with children and older members of the family. 

We sat in the conservatory the most evenings which was lovely and the dining room was great at dinner times.  The kitchen was a great size and utility room was very useful for drying wet swimwear and towels. 

We visited different places when we stayed including Saughton sands, Dawlish Warren and Ilfracoome, all of which were around 1 hours drive but Barnstaple was a shorter drive where there is lots of restaurants and shops. 

There was enough parking outside the house for all of our vehicles, there was 6 cars in total but I’m sure would be room for another.

Just got home after an amazing 7 days here celebrating my Husband and I’s 60th birthdays with all our family.
House felt like home so comfy and clean. Loved cooking for us all in the well equipped kitchen  and all being able to sit around a table together to eat. Seven Grandchildren would have been happy to just stay at the house and play everyday. House is ideally situated to get out and about though. Set in beautiful farmland.
The cream tea and welcome pack was amazing, thank you Sally.
We fully recommend West Down Farm.

15 of us were lucky enough to stay at West down farm this weekend for a hen weekend . 
Couldn’t not of asked for a better host . 
I have been in regular contact with Sally over the last year , when asked if she could arrange activities/caterers nothing was too much trouble . We were made to feel so welcome . 
Sally’s home made lunch and cream teas were also amazing .
West down farm was just perfect , the house , the garden , the hot tub and sauna ,the space , the decorations and extra little touches couldn’t of been better. Thank you Sally 

We arrived at the farmhouse and everyone was already impressed with the place as soon as we pulled up. It's very quiet and peaceful and very pretty. When we got inside we were amazed at how many rooms there were and how big the kitchen is. Also the bedrooms were very cosy and with the heating on which was very welcome as the weather was the worst gales we have had this year. There is a very large dining room and we all sat in the conservatory having a very welcome cup of tea and coffee to go with the biscuits Sally had left us. The were delicious. We also spent three evenings sat in the hot tub with wine and prosecco. Everyone was impressed with the bedrooms and because there were only nine of us and a baby most of us had rooms and bathrooms to ourselves. Sally is a great host and if we couldn't find anything or how to operate an item she was on call and very happy to help. We had a fantastic weekend and hope to repeat it again in the future.The kitchen was very well equiped and we visited the local market on the saturday which Sally recommended and also a couple of the local pubs. The bedrooms had extra towels for the hot tub and there were bathrobes as well. We didn't need to take anything. There was shampoo, hand wash in the bathrooms. If only we could have stayed longer.  The baby was very good as well.

We decided as a family to have our Annual get together in North Devon having previously been to this area and had a great time. There were 11 in our party including 2 young children 2&6 and so we chose West Down Farm for our weekend stay. The weather was very wet throughout our stay, but this did not detract from this very spacious warm and comfortable lovely farm house situated up a longish drive overlooking a picturesque valley complete with fast flowing river, very easy to find just off A361 near South Molton. We were welcomed by the owner a very helpful and friendly man who immediately made us feel at home and he gave us several extra bags of logs for the welcome wood burner in very cosy lounge.The house was nicely carpeted throughout with most comfy bedrooms, nice beds having onsuite facilities,flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. With wonderful views from all of many bedrooms.The kitchen was amazing, large with 2 cookers, 2 dishwashers, and nice Big walk in larder, we were self catering and it nice to find extra unwrapped items left from previous guests ie tea bags, sauce, biscuits etc. It was a typical farm house kitchen and very well equipped with quality crockery, pots and pans with good selection of cutlery, there was a nice family sized dining room leading to a comfortable sitting area in the conservatory overlooking the lovely valley, the absolute icing on the cake was a Brand New outside Sauna and Hot Tub which was well used by all as it was under cover The stay was a memorable one for many reasons but in spite of the weather we had a really happy and comfortable stay and will probably return. 
Very Much Recommended for a Great Stay and launch pad to North Devon and all its delights 

Very late decision to get away for a couple of days and booked this B&B on the morning of our stay. Arrived late but was no problem at all.  Our hostess was amazing, nothing was too much trouble.  Fantastic full Engish breakfast. Perfect advice provided on where to go both for walks and evening meals.  Could not fault our stay, excellent quality and range of bathroom products, and beautiful towelling dressing gowns.  Tip - as the Sat Nav says you have arrived (outside a white house), drive down the track beside this property and take first left turn to get to the large house that is West Down Farm.  Note this is still a working farm.

Relaxed and comfortable place for an extended family celebration

Fantastic staycation ☀️

Tea, coffee, milk, scones, jam and clotted cream awaited us on our arrival: a lovely surprise after our long journey! Our family group of 15 had plenty of space! A large dining table meant we could all sit round (just!) and there's a second table in the spacious kitchen. There are several different rooms for sitting to relax so everyone didn't have to be together, catering for watching TV in a separate room with board games going on in another and chatting round the table in a 3rd! 2 dishwashers was very handy! And the utility room is large and very warm for quick clothes and towel drying! The hot tub added to the experience and we enjoyed our barbecue which was ready for our use in the beautiful garden. The farm cat was loved by all and very friendly, while the geese through the fence added character!
The corners of the house may have been a little dusty, but the toilets and wash facilities and kitchen and its equipment and implements were all clean and toilet rolls, and hand soap were provided. The bed linen was spotless. 
The house is obviously in the process of being gradually updated so some of the  decorating needs finishing off- however this was not a problem for us.
I see that one review claims that the games room does not exist- this is untrue- it is located on the top floor with bean bags and a stocked bookshelf as well as a screen (we didn't actually use it as happy downstairs. It may be true that you need your own games...)
There is plenty to do and see in the surrounding area and the beautiful North Devon coast is not far away. The house is conveniently close to a main road but this cannot be heard from the house which is tucked away up a little lane, surrounded by trees.
The two downstairs toilets needed repair while we were there but the service from the owners was prompt and polite and the issues were soon resolved. They were obviously very busy people but it's easy to get a response by email!

Very Comfortable Stay 

We received a genuine warm welcome from Katrina & were made to feel very much at home,Our bedroom was comfortable& the facilities were acceptable.Katrina produced a spectacularbreakfast & seemed to happily beinvolved in everything whilstheavily engaged in examinations !!Some University will be very luckyto have Katrina as an undergraduate . A rewarding , down to earth experience &!wouldstrongly recommend.
