It doesn't seem to have had any reviews for ages, but this place is still very much in business. It's a magnificent old Ottoman House, with large, comfortable rooms furnished with classic furniture. Very atmospheric, set in a picturesque side street, near the centre of this small town. Street parking nearby if you need it. Thoughtful customer service and a  nice Turkish buffet breakfast in the old stone built, downstairs room.

Kadioglu Sehzade Konagi consists of many old houses... This is not a luxury hotel thays for sure but they are nit claiming that either... This is a perfect local boutique hotel  with great friendly staff and clean nice rooms... For touring around, hotel has a perfect location...

Cozy and friendly

People need to return their expectations on hotel quality here. This hotel is built on a few very old Ottoman buildings, and therefore the basic structure is, well, old. There is no lift, you walk up the 3 floors. The staff will however bring up your luggage. Bathrooms are add-ons in a building never meant to have en-suite and therefore very small. But it's the charm of staying in a real antique Ottoman style building.

That said, there are many downsides that shouldn't be there. The toilet seat is built inside the shower area, so yes, you will get wet toilet seats and toilet paper. The locks to the doors is iffy, and several members of our group cannot open the doors. There is a thin carpet on the floor in the room that is in bad need of some good vacuuming. Walking barefoot, you can feel the particles stuck to the carpet. There is central hot water heating, but no aircon. I hate to imagine what it will be like in the heat of summer. The mattress is old, and sags in the middle. The reading light at the head of the bed was not working. The windows don't close well, so expect significant road noise if your room faces the roads. In summer you will have no choice but to keep them open.

I am sure there are better similar heritage building based hotels, the management need to improve on their maintenance and upkeep.

Tamper your expectations: this is a VERY old building

Spent one night here on a tour to Eastern Turkey. A large room was fine but nothing to rave about. Had a single and a double bed that had seen better days; and  the lighting wasn't quiet the best, it would have benefited with a bedside lamp. The bathroom was tiny but had all that was required. The place was clean. I had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was adequate. Wifi didn't work for me here but others in our small group connected.

Pleasant Stay

As soon as they arrived, they told us that they had no room in the hotel. Then insisting for a moment we realized that only one room was occupied. I didn't understand this thing. And it struck us as we were a five by three room anyway. And that's why I can't give the stars it deserved. In the end we still got what we needed. The hotel deserves it and the rooms are very nice and clean. The private garden is very nice and the breakfast is plentiful.

Safranbolu had been designated a UNESCO World Heritage City since 1994 and many historic  buildings had been converted into "boutique" type hotels to cater to the many tourists visiting this interesting city. Kadioglu Sehzade is one such hotel with only a handful rooms and much of its original structure and architecture have been preserved.

We stayed a night in this lovely and charming hotel.  But it was disconcerting when our suitcases were lugged up the seemingly "fragile" staircases to our room on the third floor and when we walked up and down the staircases and across creaking wooden floorboards. The floor of our room was sloping and not level. When we walked around the room, which we tried not to so often, we felt like we were about to fall. It was slightly better when we sat down on the comfortable beds. There is a TV set in the room and free wi-fi. 

The room had been renovated to include a small shower and toilet but being an old building there seemed to be limitations to proper drainage. The water from the shower drained right out to the floor of the toilet to an unsightly outlet behind the toilet bowl. Towels were provided and there was a liquid soap dispenser on the shower wall. The door to the shower and toilet had to be closed as there was a "musky smell" wafting through to the bedroom all the time.

As there was no air-conditioning we had to open the windows to let in the cool breeze. At the same time we also let in traffic noise late into the night and sounds of dogs barking and cats mewing in the morning. The hotel had a nice restaurant at the adjacent second floor part of the building and we could hear diners till as late as 10.30 pm the night we stayed. We could hear children playing and shouting till about 10pm in the playground just below our room. 

The place is definitely not for those who value their sleep as the thin flimsy curtains let in the first rays of the sun. However we were able to snatch a few hours of sleep as the room was cool and we were tired after all the walking on cobbled streets in the interesting city.

The restaurant served a delicious dinner and a good breakfast too. Service was quite good too. 

Given a choice, we would much prefer to stay in a modern hotel if there was one in this historic city, in order not to cause further damage to such an ancient building.

It's one thing to visit an old city,  but different experience to live in the old building. Rooms are small, and bathroom are smaller.  I went to the Old Turkish bath , so I don't have to take a shower in the small bathroom.  Since the building has wooden floor,  creaky at night.  But tired from jet lag.  So fell asleep anyway.  Breakfast was good. 
I prefer the modern hotels. 

World Heritage sites

We stayed with our camper for two nights in the parking lot that belongs to the house. Very nice, well maintained, with vegetable beds. Water, electricity. Shower and toilet in the hotel (very nice renovated old town house, as is typical for saffronbolu). Extremely friendly owners. Good food in the hotel restaurant. Very highly recommended!
