Onhann Hotel

This is one of my favourite hotels in Turkey. This time I stayed for 5 nights to attend "Oil Wrestling Tournament " held in Kurtdere . First of all, staff are well trained and helpful. Some of them speak English. Secondly rooms are spacious and functional. My preference is a Deluxe double room. Rooms are either facing front ( highways) or backside ( railways). The former gets the sun in the afternoon. The latter in the morning. There are a few movements of trains , but I was not bothered during sleep. The walls between rooms seem quite soundproof. I did not hear any noise from the next room during 6days, even though hotel was full. Thirdly, the location. It is between bus terminal and city center. Because the hotel is on top of shopping center, taxis are always available (15TL to city center). I came from Istanbul to Edermit by air and to Balikesir by car(a little over one hour).You can negotiate and get a good deal with Yaylada Taxi to pick you up at the airport. Breakfast lineup is quite good. First morning I found very tasty scrambled eggs with sucuk (sausages). But following mornings it disappeared. I told the restaurant manager, that menemen and boiled eggs are not enough. Then he promised to talk with the chef. So on the last day scrambled eggs with sucuk was in a lineup! Thanks Eyup. Cost performance of this hotel is also excellent. This will be always my home in Balikesir.
