Prestige Court

We stayed at this establishment for 3 weeks in March/April and overall were more than pleased with what we got for our money. First the location - the residence is very well located near Mount Lavinia and its many restaurants and beach and nearby Galle Road with all of its shops. Both are within walking distance and transport be it Uber or Tuk Tuk is always readily available. The residence is a 5 floor building with the top 2 floors taken over by a spa and restaurant both of which were NOT in use when we stayed but the views from the top restaurant floor take in the nearby Indian ocean as well as panoramic views of the local area and Colombo and provides some dramatic sunsets over the Indian ocean. The remaining 3 floors are split into various combinations of accommodation ranging on the 1st floor apartments used as dormitories to the 3rd floor where you find the better of the apartments which are a 2 bed and 3 bed layout - we stayed In the 3 bed apartment which was spacious light and quiet being on the back of the building. By western standards I would rate the apartment between 2 and 3 star - it is equipped with the basics but lacks the finer points such as a dvd player, hoover, and a kitchen which is adequate but as commented elsewhere is equipped with a odd assortment of utensils and crockery. However the kitchen come diner come lounge is a great space and the bedrooms are a fair size be it with limited storage space - only 2 of the 3 bedrooms had wardrobes/drawer units. There are 2 shower rooms with 1 being on suite to the master bedroom - both are showing the signs of age and could benefit from an update but are adequate. Jude who manages the establishment and his staff are great and cannot do enough to make you welcome and are a source of local knowledge. There is always one of them on duty 24/7 so assistance is always on hand. Whilst we were there we gave a dinner party for 10 people which they catered for and which was excellent both in value and content - well done. I could go on with this review but suffice to say overall we liked the place and yes we would stay there again but you get what you pay for so be sure you ask for one of the top floor apartments which seem to be better equipped. Finally be aware that electricity use may mean an extra charge at the end of your stay - although this was not mentioned in the booking we were faced with an extra bill for our electricity usage which I did not dispute as we were heavy users but it would have been good to know that this charge was coming before our stay.
