HomeBase Melville - Hostel

i stayed at homebase melville both at the beginning of my south african trip and at the end. i stayed in a couple of other hostels during my trip to get a feel for different areas but i definitely had to come back to this one. amazingly chilled hostel with a beautiful garden and poolside bar, extremely clean and very laid back. its located in a very studenty bohemian and also very walkable (unusual in joburg) area just outside the main city centre. a very green area and just a short walk away you have lots of bars and restaurants plus a 24hr petrol station if you need midnight supplies. you also have a shopping centre just down the road. the best thing about this hostel though was the staff who made me feel so welcome and always had time to help you out with tourist info or simply just a nice chat. big thank you to sam, mike, kirsty, brian and peter and everyone else who made me feel so at home. also i must add that another reason to choose this hostel is the value for money - it was one of the cheapest places i found in joburg and frankly they could charge much more considering the quality of the facilities.
