Tradouw Guesthouse

This was my third visit to this guesthouse (the second with my partner) and we both still loved it as much as we did back in 2003 when we first found it. Back then, it was one of only a few places to stay in Barrydale and although that has changed, we’ll always return here for as long as Leon and Dennis will have us. The house is like an old lady that ages gracefully but with many memories and mementos. It is a little oasis, full of interesting little details, furniture, antiques and nicknacks that tell of a full life and history. The garden is a place of beauty, very peaceful where you can while away the hours, reading a book or watching the birds. The rooms are nicely furnished with old furniture and extremely homey. The big common room with comfy chairs and games is a great place to sit in the evening while the sound opera or piano drifts across from Leon’s music room. The best thing about the place are Leon and Dennis themselves, who make your stay so enjoyable with their easy hospitality, lovely breakfast and interesting conversations. It never feels like you’re a guest as much as a temporary member of the familiy. We really hope to come back before the two finally decide to retire.
