Hotel Santamaria

The title comes from the sign above the front door. We very much enjoyed this hotel. Our room itself was large, the private bathroom was divided into a shower room and a toilet/sink room. Compared to US standards, the toilet room is TINY. The beds were comfortable; there was a TV w/ both English and Spanish language channels. There were 2 fans in our room and if we opened the door to the patio, we also got a very nice breeze. We did not have a fridge in our room. Aldo was on duty when we arrived; he was extremely helpful and friendly. The owner (Jorge) is also very friendly and helpful. He is well traveled and is engaging. There is a very nice breakfast area and the breakfast (fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, toast, and juice) was delicious. We found the hotel as we were walking around the first day we were in CR because we saw a sign saying "arts and crafts" - we didn't realize it was a) a hotel or b) the hotel we were staying in the last night of our trip. There are many craft/art pieces, all made in CR, available for sale. There is no hotel parking but one could park on the street (not advised as it is not protected) or in a nearby parking lot which has someone there 24/7. The hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants, parks, churches, and shopping areas. It is a clean, quiet, delightful, quaint LOCAL hotel, not a Marriott/Hyatt/Holiday Inn. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.
