Apart Hotel Colors

This hotel is located quite close to the bus station (only about a 10 minute walk), and a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of La Serena. The staff were very helpful there - I asked to have some laundry done the night before we were to check out (leaving it a bit late, I know). The staff who did laundry weren't available until the next day. So one of the staff members let me use the washing machine myself, and then they let me hang up the washing on a roof top area they use for hotel laundry. I thought this was very accommodating of them. And I was surprised they didn't charge me anything to use the machine! I don't think this is a standard service they provide, but they seemed very keen to ensure I could get my washing done before we left. The apartments themselves are well set up. The include a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave, electric jug, and two hot plates. In the kitchen cupboards there is cutlery, plates, a chopping board, a frying pan and a pot. So you can self-cater. We did find that the wifi signal in our room was fairly weak. The hotel entrance has a locked gate. You need to buzz to be let inside, but staff are always around to let you in promptly. There was a speaker for the buzzer outside our room, which we could hear from our room when people were buzzing to be let in. But this wasn't really a problem for us, as other people were not coming or going late at night. Hotel keys have to be left at the front desk when you leave for the day. Breakfast is OK. The one time I had breakfast it included cheese, ham, toast, butter, marmalade, a small packet of cookies, a juice, and tea or coffee. The staff were happy to let us store our luggage there for an afternoon after we had checked out.
