When the cottage we booked was unavailable the management switched us to a much larger two bed room cottage at no extra cost. Also they made sure that we were comfortable and helped me locate material that enabled me to fit my electric motor to their aluminum boat. Cottage was very well equipped and clean.

Exceptional Management

Just returned home to Montreal from a great stay at this resort. A little off the beaten track but only a 5 minute drive into town. Warm lake with free kayaks and canoes. Nice cabins with all you need. Great owner who even came to our cabin to show us how to use the TV system which we had difficulty with using. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Visit

I and my friend have been to fishing trip and stayed RV because of no cabins available at that time. (summer time in this island is the most busiest.)
It was a plenty of space for 2 adults for 2 nights stay. Master bedroom has a 1 queen size bed and the other bedroom has a bunk bed (1 double & single).
Inside of the RV was nice and clean. However, there were some issues with this RV which was a faucet handle in a kitchen was broken. Bathroom has a tiny bath tub & shower. I don't want to say "bath tub" because it was measured about 100 cm x 70 cm.
And water coming from a shower head was trickled (quite not strong enough). 
This is not complain because I understood this is RV.  But please keep in your mind if you'd like to use RV for staying. 
The other things was a kitchen. A little bit differences between a photo shown on the HP and a real one. Not gorgeous like that.   
However, hosts (I forgot their name...) were so nice and friendly. 
I recommend to stay cottages than RV's.

Douglas RV

An amazing place to stay, the views are to die for. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming.  The cottages are very cosy and clean. There are lots of boats, canoes etc to be used and free of charge. I have 3 kids aged 6 to 11 and they loved staying here.

Awesome stay

This beautiful resort is one of my favourite places to visit.  The views are beautiful, the grounds are extremely well maintained and the cabins are warm and inviting.  When you work in a stressful industry....coming to Lakeshore takes all of the stress and pressure away. Curling up on a comfy couch, lighting a fire and reading a good book are some of my favourite things to do and I cannot think of a more special place to do this than Lakeshore on Salt Spring.  If you feel like you need a quiet getaway, call Peter and he will set you up with everything you need for a relaxing vacation and you won't be disappointed. 

A Lakeshore getaway 

Owners dog kept jumping on me when I arrived and was not under control. Dated cabins and over priced.

In August 2017, we visited Lakeshore and met with the owner/manager Peter. He made a number of promises as to what would be there by Aug 2018 when my daughter was getting married, including three brand new townhouse units, each 3 bedrooms. He showed us architectural drawings and assured us they would be build in time. He said they had had weddings there before and all was well.  We booked the entire resort for Aug 24/25, 2018. My daughter is in Australia and hired a professional planner to organise things here. 

Within 10 days of booking we were told by the tent rental company that they wouldn't deal with Lakeshore as they had no proper access road. This was news to the owners. They promised a new road. 

In June 2018, the wedding planner made a site visit to Lakeshore. The three new townhouse units were NON EXISTENT- I mean, the ground was not even broken. No one at Lakeshore had bothered to tell us they were not built, despite my daughter booking guests into them for the past 9 months. SERIOUSLY?? Were they going to let people arrive on the wedding day and say, "Oops-your room is an empty patch of grass next to the parking lot"? Now we had 16 people who should be staying in 9 non existent bedrooms without accommodation, 8 weeks before the wedding. At the insistence of the planner, the owners brought in 2 RV's-still inadequate but what do you do? How do you run a place this way?

We arrived Aug 23. Our cabin had virtually no water pressure in the shower-i mean drips. Had to wash my hair kneeling in the tub under the tap. (Peter had mentioned two weeks earlier when I called that they had a water issue but that it would ABSOLUTELY be fixed, it was a small issue.) Next day, on the 24th, when I am making food for 40 for the rehearsal dinner, they SHUT OFF ALL THE WATER for 5 hours...taps, toilets, showers. They were STiLL trying to fix the water intake pump in the lake. Water got turned on at 4:50 pm, one hour before guests arrived. (The young woman who was checking out of our cabin when we arrived had said they had stayed a week and were only able to shower twice). This cabin is well over $200 night.

Access road as promised? Not the nice paved road down the side as described, but a strip of compacted gravel that cuts across the lawn; this was a really serious issue for women in heals and guests with canes and walkers. And it looks terrible.

And the cabins? Stoves overheat, half burners works. Broken windows, latches, rotting decks, peeling lino, rusting taps, etc, etc. There is so much deferred maintenance on this property it is staggering. With the right management and significant investment in maintenance and upgrading, this place would be fantastic.

Upside is it really is a beautiful piece of property. Peter and Barron are really nice guys, very friendly. The owners happily promise everything but just seem completely clued out as to how to run the place; very unprofessional. Maybe if you only stay a day or two this place is fine. Do not book any special event.

The wedding was lovely because the caterers and photographer were amazing, the florist was wonderful, the planner was brilliant, the rental company (from chairs to toilet) was fantastic-everyone else did a great job. 

Did I mention that Peter/Barron charged $1,000 to my son in law's credit card, with no explanation? Or that they take DAYS to return calls (except, strangely, when I left a message saying I wanted to call in a payment). My daughter couldn't get responses to calls or emails. There's enough stress in life and in planning a wedding...no one needs this.

After the wedding my daughter said to me "Know what I'm most looking forward to now?" Answer: " We will never have to deal with Peter and Barron again."

You've been warned.

Daughter's Wedding-Lovely location, poorly managed, poorly maintained

we stayed in one of the cottages that needed refurbishing.... water supply was intermittent during our last night there

Lakeshore has a great location but needs some work.  Our cabin was clean (as long one didn't look under the bed) but has a sloping floor in the kitchem, no screens on the windows, and the water pressure was terrible.   The wifi only worked one day while we were there so we needed to use data as we had work we had to do.   The grounds and lakeshore area needed some work and had garbage floating around.

In the first conversation I had with the innkeeper after checking in on Wednesday, he asked how soon we could leave on Friday, our checkout day. He and his crew need to clean the rooms ASAP, he told me. I've stayed in lodges, hotels and inns around the world and never had a host with such a lack of hospitality.
