We went there three times. First time for my breakfast on March 9, 2020 consisting of a large and delicious espresso at $1.50 with two pancakes, bacon, an egg with tomatoes at $2.50. Total $4.00 so everything was fine. I went back there twice with my wife afterwards including once for dinner on March 9, 2020 and one last time for our late breakfast on March 10, 2020. Prices were reasonable and we had a great service from our young waitress named Lin. We were attached to this adorable young girl and she loved us very much. She also offered permission to publish her photo. Her friend was just as charming. We both spoke very kindly.

We really liked this restaurant!

I had to spend the night there, a really strange welcome, never seen this in Cambodia. The room was unsanitary, it stank of moisture, some of them didn't have windows (I visited two). I canceled and went elsewhere... but it's really the staff that makes me reverse engineer, I could have slept in a room without windows for one night.

To avoid, a staff unprecedented in Cambodia.

The staff were nice and helpful.
I could a menu (for 4$ if I recall) : hamburger, french fries and a coca-cola.
I am not a big eater, but still the portions were ridiculously small. I think I literally got 15 fries, and the hamburger was small. 
If you’re a big eater, consider another dish, or spend 12$ on 3 hamburgers and fries... 
The taste could be improved but hey, it’s an unpretentious restaurant, I can’t expect a gourmet burger!

Well-located care for rooms without windows

I booked the Mekong Crossing Guesthouse on 31 dec 2018. On the same date I got the confirmation.

Today (3 febr.) I came there and there was no room available because 1 guest stayed longer. He offered the possibility to go to a next door Hotel for the same price. But the room was by far not the same standard. No balcony, no view of the Mekong river. We could get a room on the front side with balcony and river view but that was 15$. The owner of Mekong Crossing Guesthouse refused to pay the difference.

The rooms on the first floor overlooking the Mekong River are not too bad, but the blind rooms on the second floor are horrible, absolutely unhealthy, moisture and mold are all over the place, not to mention the foul smell.

Avoid the second floor

We booked a room with air conditioning through Agoda, and when we arrived, we wouldn't even be told that it was probably the wrong price, and we got a room with air conditioning, and there was no remote control, even on demand.

Poor service

Mekong Crossing has a great corner location, right on the riverfront - and it's only a short walk from the street where the inter-city buses stop.

Rooms are a fairly good size, quite basic, but clean and comfortable. The beds are too soft for my taste, but not too bad. TV is small, but works OK and has a few English channels. Wi-fi is usually OK, but a bit slow; and I had a few problems with the connection breaking down the last time I stayed (they may need to purchase a bit more bandwidth - it's a common problem everywhere in Cambodia!). Shower room is good.

Only problem with a fan-only option (which I usually prefer) is that they are wall-mounted, and in some cases not near enough to the bed to provide effective cooling at night.

There is a narrow shared balcony wrapping around the two sides of the first floor - which, amazingly, is hardly ever used by guests or patrons of the bar/restaurant downstairs. I love to hang out there of an evening (although mosquitoes are sometimes a problem!).

The family owners and their young staff are all very pleasant: it's become my favourite place on the riverfront to go for a few drinks in the evening, even if I'm trying out somewhere else to stay.

I don't rate their Western food offerings; but the Khmer dishes are tasty, and generously portioned.

Room rates are slightly higher than most other parts of Cambodia for this level of accommodation - but perhaps only if you book online. I suspect you could get a quote 2 or 3 dollars cheaper if you just walk in off the street - especially if they're not very busy.

Good budget option in the centre of Kampong Cham

All the staff is amazing and kind, specially the young NouN. 
Double room with fan, very confortable, clean, 8$ (was a bit warm at beginning but after OK). Good WiFi.
Food is good, price in the average. 
Bikecycle for rent (1,5$) and motorbike (5$)... I try to negotiate every price but they never care. :-(

We have known KC for years and just wanted. Weekend out of the city. 

Mekong crossing is a great spot for dinner as you can look over the river from the footpath dining.  The meals are reasonably priced and taste good. 

The only issue is when the insects come in to the lights - but this is not common.
