Hanoi Solo Hostel (Adults only)

Hi Nam Hai 1 Hotel (now the Hanoi Style Hotel) is in a great location.  The staff are friendly, the room is comfortable, the buffet breakfast appealing and the setting quite compelling.  At $35 a night, it is a great deal!

We stayed at the Nam Hai 1 for 4 nights then again for 2 nights after returning from Ha Long Bay.
The service was great and the hotel is well placed with all the action on your doorstep or just a short walk away.
The staff were very helpful and all spoke good English.
Room was good value for money and most importantly had a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was included in the room cost and while not over abundant with choice provided enough variety to get you going for the day.
Would recommend this hotel as good value for money and well positioned within the old quarter.

Great Service & Well Located

Nice, inexpensive and well-located

I stayed in this hotel last August/September with my husband and 2 kids of 10 and 12 year old. The room in the top floor was very big and cosy. I am happy with the price and the location of the hotel.The room was on the top floor so if you stay there on August the hottest month of the year you might to reconsider as such a big room only had one AC. But if you stay there in cooler months I would be happy to be back in that room again.

When you need a family room

When we first arrived we had two rooms. One on the 4th floor and the other on the 7th floor. Rats or some kind of rodent kept us awake on the 7th floor.

The computers in the rooms did not work and one had images not suitable for children on the hard drive (left by a previous guest I assume).

Breakfast was very good although a little crowded.

Not all the front desk staff were particularly friendly. This may have been due to a lack of English language skills.

Could have been better

Our family checked out of here after 1 night.  We were originally put in a room on the 7th floor (lift to the 6th floor then stairs up)  it was up by a corrugated iron roofed room where they dried all the laundry.  The room was very tired with a view of the motorway.
We changed to a slightly better room on the 4th floor (room 402).  Again very tired decor with a bathroom vanity that had a thick layer of dust around the vase of plastic flowers.  The shower connection had come out of the bath, so most of the water flowed straight on to the floor.  The location is great on Ma May Street but for US$65 there are so many better, cleaner, quieter and well appointed hotels.
We checked out and stayed at the 4 month old Paradise 1 Hotel just around the corner in Hang Bac Street and it was fabulous.
Also due to no safe deposit box in the room our passports were stored in a drawer at the reception desk rather than the safe where we were assured they would be stored.
