Audrey is such a fabulous host. Beautiful breakfast and lovely room. For dinner, it's a very quick drive to St. Michael's Pub. A charming pub with very good food and beer.  We'll be back next time.  Loved Haggis the cat.

Audrey and Alex welcomed us to their lovely guest house on our recent visit to an Open Day at St Andrews University.  The room was comfortably warm and the twin beds cosy. We had everything we needed and the breakfast was tasty.  There was a selection of cereals, fruit and a hot option too.  The only downside, if any, is that it is a little further from the train station than we had hoped, so you have to rely on taxis to get you around if you don't have a car.  All in all, however, the property was perfect for our stay and if we visit the area again, we will definitely stay at Vicarsford Lodge.  Thank you Audrey and Alex.

We feel so fortunate that we were able to stay with Audrey and Ian in their lovely home. It was a last minute booking as the place in St Michaels that was booked for us was not to our liking. The house is immaculate and so welcoming. Audrey offered is homemade cake in her kitchen. If we had been able to stay longer, i would have loved to go golfing with Ian. I hear he is a legend! Thanks again.

My husband and I stayed one night at the Vicarsford Lodge near St Michaels, Scotland. There is plenty of parking right outside the front door of this lovely country home, which is a short drive from either St Andrews or Dundee. Audrey and her son, Ian, were gracious and helpful hosts as evidenced by the fact that Ian helped my husband get a tee time at Scotscraig and even loaned him some equipment. Our room was spacious with a comfortable king size bed and an ensuite bath. We enjoyed a cooked to order breakfast in the morning with homemade jams.

A few weeks ago we were fortunate to spend a night at Vicarsford Lodge Guest House. What a wonderful find! The beautifully decorated large bedroom and luxurious bathroom, beautiful view of the fields and quiet location made our stay perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable and in the morning Audrey greeted us with a delicious homemade breakfast of our choice. With all the special finishing touches to add to one’s comfort, I would absolutely recommend Vicarsford lodge Guest House!

We stayed at Vicarsford Lodge for 3 nights on a golfing break.I could not recommend it high enough.Audrey was lovely and could not be more helpful.Ian is a legend and it was an honour to play a round of golf  with him at Scotscraig golf course.If you love your golf this is the place to stay.Brilliant.Would love to go back tomorrow .5 star for me👍

We had the pleasure of spending 8 days at Vicarsford Lodge and were delighted with the service, care and little extras that Audrey and Ian Bell gave us to make our stay just that little bit more special. 
The home and our hosts added to the specialness of our visit to St Andrews.
Breakfasts were cooked to order and if you happened to be leaving before breakfast started, Audrey was happy to pack you breakfast to take with you as she would say in her strong Scottish accent: “I don’t want to see you go hungry.”
We highly recommend Vicarsford Lodge for a homely stay. It is a comfort haven when you have had enough of the sterile environment of hotels and looking for something just that little bit more cosy and homely. A car is needed, but in its absence, the hosts are happy enough to drop you off at the nearby bus stop if they're heading out on their morning chores.
Highly recommended if you’re exploring or playing golf around St Andrews and Dundee.

Stayed here for 1 night after attending family wedding.  Audrey and her son were very friendly and helpful.  Our room was warm and the bed comfy.  Tea and coffee etc was provided in the room.  Choice of cereals, fruit and juice, plus cooked breakfast.

We stayed here for a couple of nights to get to the golf at St. Andrews .  The location is very quiet but only a short car distance from St. Andrews .  The accommodation was comfortable but very dated.  Our room could have slept three and had a large en-suite bathroom which only had a very small shower over the bath.  The shower pressure was also quite poor. The hosts were very accommodating and had lots of local knowledge. The WiFi was practically non existent but this could have been because of the remote location.  We probably wouldn’t stay here again as we like to be right in the centre of St. Andrews so we can walk to all the amenities .

Holiday stay with a homely feel

The good bits - breakfast when we got it was lovely - lovely rural location close to Dundee and St Andrews

Bedroom floors were not clean, bed sheets were musty and room was cold for initial 24 hours of our 3 day stay. 

Our children were taking part in a competition in Dundee and at time of booking we specifically requested an early breakfast for mornings of the competition.  The specific response we received was breakfast at 7.00 is not a problem.  It was though an issue on arrival and no suggestion was made to alleviate such as a basic self serve continental.  For day of departure no longer having competition commitments we thought we might enjoy a breakfast for 9.30 or 10.00.  When owner said they only do breakfasts on Sundays from 7.00 to 8.30 I wondered was it some form of wind up or a sketch scene from 2 Ronnie’s.  A 9.00 breakfast was eventually offered which was actually very nice.

We were still  charged full adult prices for each of the 3 days.

Overall, in my view this bed and breakfast is adequate but it doesn’t warrant a four star rating - certainly wouldn’t be rated as four star by Irish bed and breakfast standards
