The Golden Boar

Needed accommodation close to work and rang direct to make the reservation. After a long day travelling from France followed by several meetings it was lovely to arrive into a cosy warm bar with a log burner lit and a lovely friendly atmosphere. 
We were swiftly checked in and both rooms were clean and warm, with big comfy beds, large tv’s  and lots of tea, coffee and biscuits. 
We then went downstairs for a few drinks and some  dinner. 
The bar staff were excellent , as was the service and our Fish and chips were delicious! 
Can’t fault our stay and we will definitely return.

Went for a pay day treat. Promptly seated and served. Tasty, fresh homemade bread with walnuts to nibble on. 

The Chateaubriand for was cooked to absolute perfection (Not personally a fan of the accompanying chips and onion rings, it would been better with chargrilled vegetables and a serving of a potatos dish). This particular dish was a touch on the more expensive side for a pub (£58) BUT it was meant for two and was clearly a high quality, weighty slab of meat. 

All other food and drink prices were reasonable and typical for pub food. 

Partner had steak and ale pie, lots of flavour and well presented. 

Nice brownie for desserts.

Overall, very nice meal and evening. Nice pub, nice attentive staff. Food much better than anticipated. 

We just had one of the best tasting meals we've had in a long time, including pre covid! . I believe the owner was trialling a new chef today. His food was delicious. Can thoroughly recommend the slow roasted ribs he cooked and the jacket potatoe was amazing. If, like me, you like jacket potatoes and garlic you'll adhore this.  Staff are so helpful and friendly. Lovely village pub, a credit to Freckenham.

Friendly staff, nice food, great service. Cauliflower cheese amazing. Generous portions and kids menu good. Wheelchair accessible. Parking good. Looking forward to going back and trying regular menu on weekday.

Stayed there bank holiday sunday. Great Quant village. Staff were really helpful and friendly and room rate was great. Was really peaceful. Room was basic and good size. Food finishes at 5pm on a sunday so unfortunately didn't get to try there food out. Definitely stay there again

The Golden Boar is in a small village not too far from a main road. The landlord and staff were superb. They have very good food in their restaurant with plenty of variety. I used te hotel as a base for exploring the neighbouring area and the friendly staff helped greatly with suggestions. It took me 25 mins to get into Cambridge city centre and it is very close to Newmarket for the racing. I would thoroughly recommend staying here instead of a standard hotel chain. It is well worth the slightly longer commute time for the experience. My room was spotless and comfortable and everything worked , and I was able to come and go as I pleased. Excellent.

Great place with really good service

So glad that I found this place on a Google search for pub accommodation. I needed somewhere to stay, fairly local to where I had to be working the next day. No premier inns available for miles or for less than £150, so instead of booking online I dialled the number and spoke to a lovely person who booked me in a double with en-suite for half the cost of the premier inn. The room was small but perfect for me, powerful shower, lots of hot water, tea/coffee making bits n bobs, biscuits and it was clean. Went downstairs to the Inn for dinner, Broccoli and Stilton soup, delicious, and to follow that old pub favourite, scampi chips and peas. Must have been over a dozen good sized scampi, not overdone, full of seafood flavour and went great with the seasoned fries and peas and what I think was a homemade tarter sauce. Great, a couple of pints and time for bed.

High Quality, Tasty Pub Food

Amazing meal

Thought we would give the Golden Boar a try for Sunday lunch, we were very impressed, lovely interior and the staff were particularly welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious we both had starters and although there was quite a wait for these they were worth the wait. We both ordered the roast pork which was superb the selection of vegetables was plentiful and really well prepared. We botmh 
 agreed this was one of the best Sunday lunches we have had in the area and I have to say excellent value for money, we will certainly be returning.

Super Sunday Lunch

We stayed at the Golden Boar Inn for one night and received an excellent service. The staff were really welcoming and helpful. Under new ownership we were impressed with the refurbishment and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. We had lunch in the restaurant and were impressed with quality of food and pricing. Would recommend
