Turned up on the day and there was a room available for a good price without A/C.
It’s in a good area, a quieter part of town but still near all the main restaurants and beach front.
Hosts were very friendly and supplied cheap water compared to all local shops in the fort, gave us good advice and helped book us a tuk tuk to Mirissa the following morning
Would reccommend!

Charming little guesthouse located within the fort opposite Dutch hospital. Hosts were really friendly and it was easily to feel relaxed in their home. Breakfast was tasty and constantly offered more. Only downside was the shower which dribbled at best.

Cheap and cheerful

Perfect location 

The guesthouse is located opposite of the old Dutch hospital in Galle Fort and also very close to al places of interest in the old city.
Room is spacious, bathroom and shower are ok, mosquito net available and breakfast rich and well tasting. 
It’s run by a family, who care for you and is helpful with information, even the train timetable!
Everything was fine👍

Homestay in the heart of Galle Fort

Thenu Rest is probably one of the best values in Galle Fort. You cannot find a better value in the fort area. As it is right across from the Dutch hospital, you can do all of your touring from there. One note, we did not sleep in the accommodation (we had a 1:00am flight and wanted to use the location for baggage storage and a shower), so I cannot comment on the bed or breakfast. However, the shower was powerful (without hot which you probably won’t need, Galle was boiling) and the room had AC. We struggled to get good ac out of our unit, and had to call the staff up to turn it on at one point. They did set up a taxi to the airport for us that was very good, and about 1000Rp less than the going rate (make sure to tip the driver at least 10% as he didn’t get the full rate). The staff was great at check-in, but a little grumpy when we asked for our AC help and another towel. As we didn’t stay overnight, they did give us a 1000Rp discount for not having breakfast with them. Bottom line, for location it can’t be beat for the price, but don’t go for the AC room (as it was crap when it did work) – if you are staying overnight, you may struggle to get comfortable, given the temperature in Galle. Definitely have them set you up with a ride to the airport (note….you can take two buses for cheap to the airport, but we were so exhausted and not willing to be sweaty on our flight, that the taxi was the best solution by far and took 2 hours on the express way.

Good location in the Fort

The noise created by the staff was far too much. It started at 4am with staff members yelling to get each others attention right outside our room. This continued until 9am. I think you'll be fine if you're not in the ground floor rooms but the noise level was completely intolerable where we were. I normally sleep through this sort of thing but this was something else. On the plus side the hosts were nice and the breakfast was lovely.

Nice but intolerably noisy

Very nice staff with willingness to help and give tips to eat/visit in Galle. They also found us a great tuktuk to go to Mirissa. Clean bathroom and good view. The location is perfect. We had no proper blankets and the sheets were a little bit dirty. The hotel may need some renovation
