Very good place for affordable prices and with delicious food. 
Even though it's closer to the town the environment is calm. 
Rooms are spacious.
Staff is friendly. Home cooked meals are delicious.
Highly recommended.

Very good place

Beautiful and quiet location with a short walk (5 minutes) to town. Friendly and informative staff. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Excellent breakfast. We enjoyed our stay.

One of the nicest places I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka; beautifully quiet and calm, wonderful hosts and a cosy, welcoming room. The only downside was that work meant I was only able to stay one night; would love to come back.

Absolutely lovely

We were a group of 6 and the moment our van turned into the driveway we were greeted with the ambience of the old world charm of an estate bungalow. Our hosts Cynthia & Roshan made us feel comfortable from the word go. When we were not out & about the sights in Ella we would walk around the lovely garden taking in the sight & sounds of nature or simply sit around the sprawling verandah & chat away, so much to catch up on!
The bungalow is so much in tune with nature, the fauna & flora definitely a soothing factor. Some of us even spotted fawn darting in & out of the trees amongst various other birds squirrels etc.
We could order whatever we wanted from a choice of breakfast menu's. The meals were simple yet, delicious. There was plenty to go around (considering our voracious appetites!)
The rooms were spacious & comfortable.
Sunnyside caters to varied holiday makers. If you're looking for a quiet retreat, in comfortable surroundings, maybe do some reading, writing, painting, playing board games or simply relaxing, this is the place to be. This bungalow is also good for the weary traveler who would be out the whole day taking in the sights & experiences of Ella, to come back & rejuvenate for the next day.
The spot is super convenient. Only 400 meters from the railway station & a 10 -15 min walk into the quaint & bustling town.
All in all it is a lovely place & we hope to go back for another enjoyable visit.


A home away from home.....

We recently completed a 28 day, 12 hotel trip around the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. We stayed at a wide variety of establishments, including beach hut, 5 star resorts and boutique hotels. They were all delightful but this simple, homely home-stay remains in my memory for so many good things. 

The bungalow is located in beautiful grounds with breath-taking views over surrounding mountains and valleys. It is well away from the road yet is an easy 400 metre walk from the bustling town of Ella and its railway station.  

The facilities are simple (no boutique touches here!) but the rooms are clean and comfortable with everything that you could want. There is no need for a/c because of the lovely high-altitude climate although there are fans available if needed. There is in fact little (other than wifi) to remind you of the 21st century.

Above all this is a home where Roshan and Cynthia welcome guests with a simple grace and kindness. If you want noise and buzz, then Ella is nearby but if you want to stay somewhere that has soul then this is the place for you!

The best kept secret in Ella!

Excellent spot to stay; my wife and I were there for two days and enjoyed the tranquility and abundance of nature. Try the room Salomi; it's so cool. The rooms are incredibly clean, and the atmosphere is truly unique. 
Anyone planning to visit should reserve a room with B&B. When we had the breakfast, we took the lunch in the evening because it was so filling. The breakfast is so so delicious and so many varieties with fresh fruits and juices. 
Service is outstanding; ask for Cynthia; she is skilled at providing the greatest service. 
The ideal spot to stay in Ella, in our opinion.

Hi, We were welcomed by Cynthia and her warm smille. Roshan helped us to find a van to visit the surrouding places. Both of them were very eager to help. We stayed for 2 nights with 2 other families. We all enjoyed both the sumptious meals. A lot of varieties both for breakfast and dinner. The rooms were spotless clean.  Hope to come back! All the best. It is 12 long years since I last stayed at SHB; when we went as a Team & booked it out toto😲
This visit was .. an exceptionally wonderful experience, ‘again’ .. being hosted by Cynthia, Beno, Roshan & Staff over 3 days & 2 nights.

The food was so yummy.
I was presented with an astounding array of food; as my stay included Dinner too🤙



A wow 😲 experience 

Nice bungalow. Perfect for the cold weathers. Rooms were clean. Food was great. Very comfortable rooms. It was a family run business so its easy to make you feel very cosy. Located very close to main streets in Ella
