My wife and I spent 3 nights at Hawthorne House in March, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand. Peter and Paul were superlative hosts - warm, gracious, helpful, and funny. Their house is a gorgeous Victorian with manicured grounds. It's beautifully furnished, and full of interesting art and curiosities. Our room was beautiful, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast can only be described as an event - multiple courses of sumptuous food. We travel a lot, and this was easily one of the most wonderful places we have ever stayed. If you are heading to the Hawke's Bay region do yourself a favor and book a couple nights there.
