My stay at Carraig Rua was simply wonderful. Una and her husband are absolutely adorable hosts who made us smile feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. Their warmth and hospitality truly set the tone for our entire stay. And the breakfast? Absolutely unreal! Every morning, we were treated to a delicious, freshly prepared feast that exceeded all our expectations. If you're looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, with hosts who genuinely care about your experience, Carraig Rua is the perfect choice.

Vasso and I loved this place.  Oonagh and Phillip are just excellent!  A first-class guesthouse well located just outside the center city.  A fine breakfast served by happy Oonagh and Phillip, the gentleman!  Rooms are very nice, and the guesthouse is classy.  Sunny, glassed-in breakfast room is gorgeous with beautiful green marble flooring.  The serving area has lovely dark wood flooring and beautiful china as decoration.  Great sitting room and a fine rear lawn if you want to relax outside.  We will return, … no doubts.  

Carraig Rua. Has to rate as one off the best places I have ever stayed in.  Its easy to find coming in from all routes.. Its in perfect location for a comfortable walk into town.
My first observation was how spotlessly clean everything is..   Covid guidance and hand sanitisers are evident in all rooms.
 My room was a single room with a private bathroom just on corridor.
 Bed was comfortable.  No noise from traffic as house is well back from the road.
The breakfast was the highlight for me. What a variety and choice
 Fresh fruit salad. Yoghurt compote. All cereals.. I requested porridge .  Nothing was any trouble.
I opted for smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on the first day. Then day 2 had the full Irish!! Homemade breads and scones served as well..  Frest coffee and tea served throoughout. 
 Oonagh and her husband Philip exude the true kindness of Irish Hospitality.

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming throughout the trip. The room was lovely and the matress was very good for my back which can be quite bad at times. The ensuite was quite spacious and the water was always hot for a shower. The breakfast was top class with a selection of fresh fruit, fresh pastries and a Full Irish. The family were very helpful when recommending things to do in the city, the location was also ideal only a short stroll to the city centre! Looking forward to my next visit!!

This B&B is 5mins walk from train station. Rooms are big, clean and nicely decorated. Water is always hot and you have tea, coffee and biscuits. It’s so quiet at night which lends for a great night’s sleep. The owner is so nice and unbelievably helpful. I will definitely be back.

Check in time at this B&B was 3 pm however our hosts were really gracious and allowed us early check in at 1.15 pm. The town centre is walking distance from the accommodation and so we parked at the B&B. Our room was very spacious, with a modern ensuite, and was located on the ground floor. The breakfast room is towards the back of the house with lovely views of the garden and is decorated with souvenirs from Kenya. We had a lovely hot breakfast the following morning before leaving for the Rock of Cashel. A most comfortable stay. Recommend highly. 



Philip met us at the door and showed us right to our room even though we were a couple hours early.  Sat in the lounge for a cup of tea before going exploring. Walked into town to see some sights and pick out a restaurant/pub for dinner.  Lots to choose from in town.  Bed was comfortable and warm.  We chose scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast.  Perfect for one of our last days in Ireland.  I definitely recommend Carraig Rua!!

Simple booking process. Stayed here recently, excellent ! Very clean and comfortable. Well situated to see the town attractions. Off road parking. Order breakfast at time of booking, although breakfast is served from 08.00. Full Irish breakfast is excellent. Wi-fi available. Heartily recommended.

My wife and I had an excellent time here. One of our favorite B&Bs on our honeymoon. The hostess was amazing and funny.

Great spot if you wanna hit the town night life and walk into Kilkenny for tours or food and drinks.

Very quiet and peaceful Bed and Breakfast yet within blocks of the town and restaurants. Wonderful owner greeted us and helped us find a nice place to eat.  Beds very comfy. Very glad to have booked here.

Pretty gem within walking distance of city center

It's a ten minute walk to the centre of Kilkenny, and despite being located close to a biggish road we didn't find it too loud at night. There's a lounge with several sofas and the room was reasonably spacious.

Very hospitable hosts…Short walk to city Center… Clean & and good breakfast!  Parking was a little sparse but there was a choice to park two doors down. Shower pressure was very low.  Overall, a good place to stay
