Villas Oasis

Stayed here in July 2018 for 9 nights. Paid for 10 nights as we had a late night return flight to Sydney. We have 2 kids aged 12 & 11 years and in 2009 stayed in Kuta itself, which we found too hectic. Sanur has enough to keep you busy, the beach, numerous great restaurants, coffee shops, massage salons and bicycles to hire to get around. We got around to different sightseeing places we chose to visit in Kuta, Denpasar and Ubud quite easily with metered taxis. We do find the traffic to have significantly worsened since our last trip to Bali although mostly we hung out in Sanur to relax so it wasn’t a big deal. The villa was roomy, clean, seemingly safe at night with a security guard present at the gated entrance. We shared the pool with another three villas although mostly we didn’t cross paths. It’s not a 5 star hotel but very good value and comfortable. My Only criticism for the entire stay was our bicycle hire. We hired 4 bikes for several days ($2.50 AUD / 25000 rupiah per day). The lady renting the bikes from the villas provided 2 locks for the 4 bikes. Upon our last day of using the bikes we left the locks/keys in the baskets. A short time later the lady came to our room claiming that we had failed to leave one key in the lock and despite advising her that we had definitely left it with the lock, she continued to claim that we hadn’t. My husband ended up giving her 20000 rupiah to send her on her way. It’s a small annoyance and insignificant payment on Our behalf but that behaviour left a bad taste in our mouth given we were blatantly ripped off right at the end of our stay. I acknowledge that the owner Hans has no involvement in the bicycle rentals however given it’s attached to His premises, I’m sure he would want to Know about this con woman. This place would otherwise have been given 5 stars by me!! Thank you Hans!! Tip - hire your bikes elsewhere in Sanur for the same cost!
