We got the room in the 2nd floor. It’s small but it still can put the 2 luggages size 25” and one small luggage. This floor has 2 bathrooms included the toilet.

All common space, share-kitchen and share-bathroom are well maintained and super clean. They provided the complimentary juice, milk, tea and coffee in the kitchen.

They provided the Icelandic Happy Marriage cake in the evening. The taste was good for us.

The best thing was the location of guesthouse is near the spot of Jökulsárlón Glacier and nearby attractions.

Overall we were ver satisfied. I would return to stay here if I have a chance

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay in this hostel.  The hostel has the convenience of being around 15 min from the Diamond Beach by car, and that is why we chose to stay here. They allowed early check-in, and they made a wedding cake to taste, from the area. :)  It was our most expensive stay, along the Ring Road, but the convenience of this location (distance from Jokulsarlon/Diamond Beach) was worth it. They even provide a discount on tours. Enjoy!

Lovely place really near Diamond beach and Glacier lagoon. Host friendly ,facilities for breakfast . I.ll reccomend to book in advance.  Un sitio estupendo para quedarse en la zona y disfrutar de la laguna  glaciar y la playa de los diamantes .

We stayed here the night before our Glacier and Hike tour. The host was very welcoming and kind, our room was basic but had everything we needed. The shared bathrooms were very clean and the shared kitchen had everything you needed (including tea, coffee, juice, and even some DELICIOUS homemade happy marriage cake). Would definitely stay here again.

This was our first of 2 "shared bathroom" stays in our 10 nights in Iceland - also first one in my life :) and in a retrospective I must say it works pretty well - the rooms were small and cozy but a huge plus was the fact that we actually still had a sink/tap water in the room so really the toilet and showers is what we needed to use in the "shared space" with other guests. 

As to food; there are two restaurants in this the area walking distance but we didn't try either - the coffee, tea, juices, milk are complimentary and you can actually buy some snacks/food displayed in the kitchen area - there is a fairly big shared kitchen + play area with different board games etc. - very homey and cozy, again! 

What I did enjoy in particular that I didn't at another "shared space" hotel in our Iceland trip is here the guests were super respectful of each other and they also respected the rules on noise etc. - definitely helped to catch a good sleep - it was a very welcome thing to experience. There are 2 showers/toilets in the hallway of the 2nd floor where the rooms were located (not sure if the first floor has guest rooms but in case you have a big luggage like we did you may want to just pick up some things and leave in the car right in the front as there is no elevator naturally). 

WiFi worked great and view from the window was a pleasant replacement for the lack of TV :) 

Immediately after staying here I thought this is a 4/5 stay but as I said it was my first experience ever in a "shared space" hotel, never stayed in a hostel either so I have incorrectly compared to a more traditional stay I am used to, which is unfair - know where you are going first and adjust your expectations accordingly to enjoy your experience fully :) after 10 nights which included another "shared space" stay I can say that I would totally stay here again given the choice all over :)

TIP: The place is homey and cozy, by no means luxurious if that's what you are looking for, probably the most down to earth spot in those 10 nights in Iceland but it was clean, warm, convenient and people working here and guests all seemed to be happy - that speaks for itself. As the message from the hotel states; they are about 50km one direction or 80km another direction to the nearest town with gas station and grocery stores - so plan accordingly as despite a few buildings in the area this is "in the middle of nowhere" and probably if not the proximity to the Glacier Lagoon (15 minutes super easy drive west on Route 1) there wouldn't be even any restaurants in this tiny establishment.

We stayed at Skyrhusid 2 weeks ago for the eastern part of our southern Iceland trip.  The rooms are cozy and plenty spacious, and the beds are very comfortable.  We loved the communal kitchen area.  There are 2 small refrigerators for guests to use, and there are hot plates to warm food or boil water (no frying allowed).  Sharing the bathrooms was no big deal.  Somehow everyone needed them at different times. I really loved the simple, rustic yet accommodating charm.  And the location and views are both fabulous.....large rugged mountains on one side of the road, and the sea on the other just below the farm!  Glaciers just in the background!  We really loved this eastern region more than we thought so next time we come back we would stay here longer.  Our host was amazing too....very friendly and helpful.  We love it here!

Only stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed for longer. Very cosy guesthouse, big rooms and confortable beds. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean and there even were some delicious homebaked goods waiting for us. The host was a very attentive and welcomed us cortially. 10/10 would recommend staying there.

Right from the start we had a great stay at the lovely Skyrhusid guesthouse. Julia is such a warm and caring person! She gave us tips where to go, did our laundry, and we could taste her tasty wedding cake. Personal touches like these are things to remember, making the diffrence for travellers. We had a small cosy double room. Comfortable beds and sea view. Shared bathrooms were sufficient and spotless clean. We loved the communal kitchen where it's so easy to get in touch with others, while cooking. Cosy, and comfortable all amenities for cooking available. Free coffee, tea, milk and juices for all guests.
Very close to the sea, only a few minutes waking. But be careful, in July you can expect many artic sterns attacking you from the sky. Just be warned if you go out for a walk. 
We cannot recommend Skyrhusid enough. It was one of the most special accomdation we had during our trip. Hope to come back one day. 

This stay was one of the best in Iceland! So nice places are very cozy with amazingly helpful staff. I have a great time during my travel to Iceland. The Guesthouse is located just 10 min drive from the ice lagoon and diamond beach, which is amazing. The location is full of peace l and nature friendly.  Recommend this place for people who would like to visit the Hofn area.

While on a 10-day vacation along the Ring Road, three of us stopped here one night.  Parking was easy, and a lady greeted us warmly.  Our room was upstairs, facing the rear of the property for a pleasant view.  There were three single beds.  The room was very clean, and spacious enough for all our belongings.  There is a shared bathroom, but it was always available when we needed it.  The room and the bathroom were very clean.  

After dinner at a restaurant mere meters away, we settled in for a good night's sleep.  At 6:00 in the morning, we were awakened by another guest who decided to step outside onto a small deck directly under our window to make a phone call.  Even after we asked him to get off the phone, the phone call was more important than his manners.  We guessed he stepped outside so he wouldn't wake up his traveling companion, but we were certainly upset and told the owner about it the following day. 

There is a well-equipped kitchen for guests to use, with tables for dining as well.

We would certainly stay here again, but in a room far from the kitchen and deck.
