The price is right. The location is perfect, close to the Charles Darwin Center, grocery, laundry, nice little restaurant and the main city center. But we picked the cheapest room and it was awfull. Dirty. Strong smell. No window. Very noisy. We’re glad we saved money but we could have had a slightly better room. 
There’s a pool (we didnkt use) and the staff are always willing to help.

Worst room

We arrived and couldn't charge because the owner wasn't there and hadn't left the girl in charge of anything.The owner never told us before that she was leaving to arrange anything.Then other people started charging as if we hadn't been paid when it was the other person who told us not to.

A little disorganized.

We worked at the Charles Darwin Research Station for a couple of weeks on Santa Cruz island and needed a place close by that was reasonable and cheap. The Hostal El Pinzón fit the bill perfectly as it is about a kilometer from the entrance to the Galapagos National Park Visitor Center. Down a driveway on a quiet street, El Pinzón is a clunky, two story building. The layout is complicated, with the rooms on the upstairs floor which is inconvenient when you have a lot of luggage, but doable. The office is downstairs. There is a spacious, shared kitchen area with two large tables and an area to prepare food and drink, stove, sink, cupboards and three refrigerators with freezing compartments for guests' supplies. The tiled bedroom was ample enough for two people and our luggage. Wifi only worked in the kitchen area and on the stairs, however. The bed and mattress were good with fresh linen every couple of days, the bathroom was small but adequate with a nice hot shower. There is a small community recreation park behind the hostel which was sometimes a little noisy with children at night. Our hostess was attentive and informative and the staff were friendly and courteous. She often made coffee that was available all day. A good stay at a reasonable price, within easy walking distance of town and the port. Head out the driveway, turn left, 200 meters down to the main drag, turn right and walk a couple of kilometers into town, with lots of restaurants and tourist shops on the way.

Good stay in Puerto Ayora

We booked a “deluxe room”, it had no windows but it did have cockroaches. We were moved to another, smaller, room that had no cockroaches but also no WiFi coverage and enough damp that none of our swimming clothes or towels could stand a chance of drying. There was a cockroach floating in the pool most of the first day. The owners didn’t seem surprised or to care that much. 

The kitchen is also poorly equipped with not enough hobs, no oven and one frying pan. 

The only upside is the owners friendly dog. 

Just skip this one and find somewhere else.

Cockroaches and damp

Mould in the room was overpainted, smell remained hanging in the room despite constant ventilation, AC only cleaned on request (Room No. 5), reception rarely occupied, special check-in and-out times, seems unorganized, on the second day the room was not cleaned

All right, it's cheap and all the rooms are probably not the same but we got a very small one with a tiny bathroom, nothing to hang a towel or put a toilet kit, no storage in the room, we had to put our stuff on the free bed next door, no dry hair, no TV. Another problem is that the hotel is quiet compared to outside noise but inside, as the rooms are close and not isolated, we hear the noises of the doors closing and people talking and moving around very early in the morning and later in the evening.

Very basic.

For this price (2 bedrooms, 3 people) $55 All right. Very friendly welcome, rooms clean and convenient, little gecos didn't bother. Breakfast is not served, water dispenser is available, pool is available, but we didn't use it.

The cheapest hostel

Great hotel, with loads of rooms! Really welcoming staff, thank you. We were happy with our 3 bed room, it was spacious clean and had a good bathroom. 

Excellent kitchen facilities with lots of fridge space to accommodate everyone. The WiFi worked okay for the Galápagos.

We've been in this hostel for seven days and the hostess is just super nice and very hardworking. We really enjoyed the time.

Super nice and very hardworking

This hostel is more like a hotel. We stayed 9 night in total. They clean the room every day, you have nice big clean rooms. Shower works fine. The kitchen is really nice and easy to use. The hostal is just on the edge the town so it’s very quiet at night. You can easily walk around in the area at night feeling safe. The lady working in the hostel is extremely friendly and a very very good host. She goes long ways to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. She’s also very helpful if you need information about anything. Her advices saved us a lot of money on this trip. I would definitely come back here next time.
