First you have to find and the access road very uncomfortable, but as often at the CR in remote places There we are nowhere! Spartan rooms...humid, old without comfort, bathrooms without hot water, not counting on the TV....... short of limited services... Wifi only accommodates, the meal is in three light options... the pdj also without excess... all this remains frugal! All this smells like the past that is moving away...but the future is not coming near!

Lost in the middle of nowhere: a rustic comfort!

We wanted to see a waterfall nearby and do it by car or on foot. So we came spontaneously to the Hacienda. The way there was a bit adventurous (unpaved roads and small hill bridges, but accessible by car) - that's Costa Rica. It's totally quiet there and nice staff. Then, because of the late hour, we were offered a ride to the waterfall with the horses from the ranch there, which we were very happy to accept (it was supposed to be a little saddlefest). So we went to Ross and with a fox in the draught to the waterfall where we could swim in a natural pool. We had the whole road, the waterfall and the pool for ourselves! In the evening it was back again! It was great!

Adventure Ride to a Lonely Waterfall

We were here 2 nights at the end of a birding trip and we loved it.  Beautiful grounds with a lovely pond where you can see a variety of water birds.  The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious.

Excellent spot for birding

We arrived at the hotel and had a very good cocktail prepared, one of the few positive things.In its day it was a large hotel where the facilities are immense, a huge dining room, a party area, a rodeo on the estate itself and a path leading to a waterfall ((which we did not see because from reception we were not indicated correctly) but is very poorly preserved, most areas present abandonment, and the room is no exception, when we arrive it was filled with moisture and a lock and if you notice that you have not invested in moving for a long time, that was clear.

The worst hotel we stayed at in Costa Rica.

I stongly advise anyone not to go to this hotel. We were charged twice for our lodgings and the manager refuses to admid that they made a mistake. Numerous emails and telephonecalls later we are still waiting for our refund!

Do not go there!

I stayed a few days at this hotel with a group of friends and it was really like being in paradise, surrounded by prairies, lakes, rivers and waterfalls, a haven of peace, the charming staff and the very rich food, typical cuisine.

Hotel dream blue:A paradise

We stayed here for four nights and our travel agent had booked us on a package with all meals included. BUT the menu is a cut down version of the full menu so we felt like second rate guests that were only allowed the cheap meals. Also the menu was the same for lunch and dinner so you can imagine by the third day we'd had enough of the menu. Spoke to the reception staff and we told them we were going out for dinner so they said we could eat off the full menu and for some strange reason the food was much better!!
Room was clean but rundown and the bed was uncomfortable. Place was also deserted, with probably four other rooms occupied in what looks to be a large hotel. The gym was closed down. It had a grotesque museum. And a rodeo that only opens when there are a lot of guess (never?)  
There were also a few walking trails but very easy to get lost as they are poorly marked. 
I should also mention the entrance. To get to the hotel we had to drive over two old suspension bridges, with wooden floors and bit of rusty metal you could here the groans as you drove over. It stopped us going out in the evening as with the dark it didn't feel comfortable.
Wouldn't want to stay there again.

Run down ghost town

We're going to spend the night, the rooms are completely renovated (bathroom, bedding, cleanliness, housekeeping) everything is in a deplorable condition.

Visit during a tour.

I've been staying here for years. Sometimes the place seem a bit run down, but then there are always improvements. This year there were new (and really good) shower heads, and rooms were painted. Another set of rooms were being totally renovated. On the other hand, my mattress had a sprung spring on the edge, as if someone had sat hard on it too much, but it didn't affect my sleep in the middle of the mattress. Much of the staff is the same as previous years, so the owners are doing something right. Best of all is their extensive property with some very nice forest and marsh habitats.

Great place for birding

As part of our Jet Tours tour we stayed one night in this hotel. Here are our comments in all objectivity. Positive: the setting: Negative: - unsanitary room with mold - bathroom with defective shower cap - broken bed.
