This is such a nice budget hotel with a good view from the top. Breakfast is included, and the typical Costa Rica breakfast is an option. You’ll notice wear and tear from the place being an older building, but nearly everything functioned fine. My only complaint is that the electrical outlets didn’t work in my room except for the one with the fridge. My friend’s outlets did. I had a phone-charging battery pack, so it didn’t matter to me. I imagine they’d be accommodating if that were to matter to you.

The staff were super helpful! Our flight was delayed and already a late evening flight. I got in contact and they provided us a ride service (for a fee, worth it), and we were able to get to the hotel safe and sound. Great staff, great service, and a great breakfast!

First and foremost: it’s centrally  located : museums and other sites, shops, restaurants are walking distance. Second: rooms are elegant and accommodating. Third: staff is professional, friendly and very accommodating: they kept my luggage so I could travel light on small plane from San Jose to Limon for a few days, so I didn’t have to rent a storage locker. Lastly, breakfast is served fresh, hot and delicious: Five out of five stars!!!!!

Great hotel in a beautiful small town of only Costa Ricans.  No tourists at all.  I loved it.

This hotel has great location. It is very convenient for travelers who don't speaks the Spanish. Restaurant and stores are very close by. Front desk are very friendly.

This hotel is in a convenient location, close to museums, central market, grocery stores and more. Included breakfast in restaurant in hotel was very good. For us, the only significant downside was our room was very small for two people with two pieces of luggage, backpacks, etc. and there was no window.

Our stay here was a last minute pick when a different reservation fell through - and it was the best thing that could have happened!  Hotel Cultural is right in the middle of the downtown area and close to everything we wanted to see.  The staff was very friendly, as was the waitress at the attached restaurant. The breakfast was decent and included.Our room at the back of the hotel didn't have windows, but was extremely quiet because of this (and in the middle of the city this is something special).I would definitely stay here again

Perfect location.  Friendly staff.

A good modern style hotel in central  San Jose. Room was excellent for arrival or stop overs. Staff were not that friendly. The breakfast is included. But the issue is time. Most of guests were being picked up at 0700 and breakfast starts then. All that is offered is a juice or coffee and small roll to take away.

Central modern in San Jose

This is a very basic accommodation in central San Jose.  The room we had had no windows, there is no coffee maker or other amenities.  Breakfast was included in their lobby cafe and is made to order.  The big downside is that there is no nearby parking.  You have to go to the 6th St El Colloso parking lot which is a 10 minute walk and it's about $30 to park overnight.  The location is pretty central, right next to the pedestrian walks with shopping and dining.

Im really glad I booked this stay. I was there almost a week and all the staff are very accomodating and friendly. The free brekfast was great. My only complaint is the walls are a little thin so you can hear everything in the hallway but that's a common thing with hotels like this so it's to be expected I guess. I love that the location is literally a fee feet from city center and I loved being able to walk everywhere.

I had a wonderful stay!

This hotel was great for the one night we spent ahead of our flight. It was located in an area that has a lot of museums and is very walkable, but the area itself is the downtown of a major city so it didn’t feel the safest. That being said, our experience was completely fine; just be vigilant. Our accommodations were small, but clean and had a nice bathroom and clean, comfortable bed.

Stayed for one night before an early taxi. Did the job without any frills, but that’s exactly what we needed - we appreciated them providing sandwiches given we were too early for breakfast.One thing to note: we found the area around the hotel quite dodgy in the evening, so ordered Uber eats rather than going to a restaurant

Solid hotel option

This is another property that is perfectly located near the National Museum and Cultural center of San Jose. It's location made points of interest very accessible and within a short walk. The only downside, actually two, are the breakfast and the size of the room. Both are small and skimpy. But for the price and downtown location, it's a deal. The free breakfast will tide you over until you can get to your second breakfast! Great selection but small portions. Add on to your free order!The room is tiny but has AC! The bathroom is a squeeze to do your morning routine but its very clean and modern. It's smaller than a studio or efficiency. Kind of like a New York closet condo. Somehow they make the space work - like an IKEA floorplan!
