The hostel is simple, its facilities are pleasant and clean; however, the attention of the owners is so good, that they make you feel like you are in your own home.

Familiarity is the key.

The atmosphere of the house of the monkey cuckoo is unique and unrepeatable. Pocholo, the owner, makes you feel like you are in your house from the first salutation. Cispatá Bay is very beautiful to visit and quiet.

How to be at home

Initially, I was going to stay 2 days in this hostel, but at the end I spend 6 days in this beautiful place. I came from Cartagena and needed some escaping from the busy town. I stayed in Dora Hostel, the other hostel of MonoCuco, the owner. He suggested me to go to San Antero, and I didn't regret it for 1 second. 
MonoCuco, the owner, and Yuli make you feel at home on holidays. The atmosphere is great, the music is fantastic and the environment too.

The hostel : Close to the beach (15min walking). The hostel offers a kitchen to cook, but they make also great breakfast. The rooms are clean and nice, and the hostel has hammocks, tv, sofa, ... to make you feel at home and relax. They offer a lot of tours, to the Mangroves, the Volcano, to the village, to Lorica,... I also went diving, which was splendid (the best diving in the Colombian Caraibes according to me ; and, I'm a dive instructor :)). They also offer bikes, which are great to hang out in the surroundings, or go quicker to the beach.

San Antero : smaller and less touristic than the surrounding Covenas and Tolu. Also, there is more nature. And that's what I like.

I definitely recommed this place !

THE place to stay in San Antero

The hostel La Casa del Mono Cuco, is a very pleasant place where you will feel at home. Pocholo's good energy combined with its excellent service make it a very rewarding experience. It's my first time staying in a hostel and it's just exactly what one always searches for and hard to find, clean, comfortable, with a delicious breakfast and a very affordable price.

If you are looking a very good friend at home, don't waste your time. The "mono cuco" was an excellent host. We were there for business, but we will see you soon for fun. Thanks for your hospitality.
The place is two minutes walking to the beach, there is another beach option like 5 minutes from the hostel. Rooms are enough for a nice stay, also there is more to know and learn from San Antero. 

A friendly place to stay

The Casa del Mono Cuco is an ideal place to discover the coast of San Antero, a beautiful beach, the crocodile reserve, the Mangrove, go to the islands... Martina and Pocholo are very welcoming and do their best to discover the area. The rooms are very well furnished, super comfortable, very clean. Martina prepares very good breakfast. Very good address to exchange, rest, have a good time... We feel at home there!

It was a welcome home.

We came to San Antero for the annual donkey festival, certainly a 'unique' and entertaining event! But our stay in this region was made even better by ending up at Mono Cuco - owner Nevis was an extremely welcoming and friendly guy, breakfast of arepas, cheese, coffee, fruit etc was delicious and the facilities were lovely...not many backpackers come to this part of Colombia but the beaches down the road facing the carribbean were absolutely stunning and there was also a cool crocodile/turtle rescue centre down the road - recommended±

Awesome place!

San Antero ist next to the tourism destinations of Tolu and Corvinas. However it is by far much calmer and offers nice beaches. Hostal Casa del Mono Cuco is owned by a Columbian/German couple which is the perfect mixture regarding reliable services and a warm and friendly welcome. The hosts offer various tours like boat rides to the close by mangroves or to Rio Sinu which are both lovely. Above this there is much more to see in the near surrounding. The hostal is very well kept, very clean and has a great kitchen as well as a big common area. In the city centre of San Antero you will find some decent shops, grocery stores and everything else which you might need for self-catering purposes. However, there are also good restaurants around and lovely street food. Busses run frequently between Cartagena (3 hours) and Necocli (5 hours).

Highly recommendable, next to nice beaches and in a calm and relaxing surrounding

A well-located place, with bicycles available to go to the beach or the village, the hostel in general is very well equipped (it doesn't have TVs in the rooms as many mention it, but if you go to the beach and discover new places do you really need a TV in your room?).
