We just stopped for lunch on our way back to Tacoma. The dining room is correctly furnished for the period of history when this hotel was built. I ordered chicken salad. My chicken wasn't fresh, it was old like it had been left out on the counter too long. The meat was strong in flavor, tough - so I sent it back and asked for their shrimps instead. The shrimps were delicious. The chef came out and I explained what was wrong. All things considered, they should have given us complimentary dessert. I would give this restaurant another chance because the chef was concerned but if it happened again, that would do it for me.

Mostly good food

We went one day a week this time, hoping for more peace than a break... but it didn't happen that way, plus the attention from the Reception until the guys at the Restaurant weren't friendly... the room was full of details, missing things, on the balcony were cigarette butts, etc. We signed up to make a faster check-out by placing a form in a mailbox, but they didn't take the form away. We had a discount with a coupon that explicitly stated the percentage and conditions but at the reception neither did they know. In the 24 hours we were there we called the reception 7 times and they never answered the phone.

Regular stays.

The pizza was very good and when we got the pizzas they were hot.  I was very impressed with what the new owners have done to the first story.  They are doing a good job and hope it will continue. The ball room look amazing.  It is so big and could handle a lot of people.  It is about time some has purchased it that loves her.  I am sure it will take time to get her into shape and hope they keep her classie.

Pizza

The wood fired pizzas being served a not your run of the mill pizzas. They could be classified as gourmet! There is a daily pizza special and it is reasonably priced. There is a good selection of beer and cider. Great place for a bite to eat with friends or family.

Pizza for lunch

In the center of Longview a just two weeks open pizza restaurant in the hotel Monticello served us excellent pizza with a Merlot wine. The price is ok and the service is friendly. 
As foreigners the friendly owner of the restaurant showed us around in this hotel from 1932 which is transformed into a residencial building with two restaurants and a giant ballroom. The bar in the ballroom was formerly owned by Al Capone! There is local art on the wall: portraits of singer-songwriter and actors. Why don’t we have such beauty in our hometown?

Excellent pizza in a beautifull old hotel

It could be nice but it’s been left to fall apart. Foods awful. The room was dirty and old. I’d never stay again. Unless it gets bought out and renovated. Then fumigated 100%. The bald guy walking about stank of booze. Then I was told he owned the place ! My PA has black listed this place.

What a dump !

The desk staff was pleasant enough.  We were housed in the motel block next door.

There were renovations going on in the main hotel building - contractors were around and behind the desk.

The room smelt musty and was not that clean - I cleaned the bathroom area - there was a coffee machine.

It was at bedtime that I found the sheets on the bed I was about to get into had not been changed.  It was too late to deal with it and so I slept in the other queen bed with my partner.  We had a friend travelling with us - her room hadn't been cleaned and she called the staff to clean the bathroom area - there was toothpaste over the sink and on the mirror.  

It was such a pity - the faded glory of an old building needing money spending on it and the staff to look after it.  We were promised a refund and never received it.

I would not stay here again.

The historic area and the exit of the building were good when you walk into the lobby. You might think you're going to stop in a historically renovated room with 19th-century charm and memories. In general, it's not. Many rooms are mostly old, really historic Monticello is not that high-end, and it's back to its former glory in general. Since we had previous information about the hotel, we knew it had to be just comfortable, and we knew that a much newer, mid-century two-story hotel built next to the original Grand Monticello could be better for us. It was a clean and tidy hotel, and it looked like Hilton's the oldest hotel in the world.

It's not what it looks like.

Historic hotel at a very attractive price. I went with three other friends. I liked it, but they wouldn't turn back. The main attraction really was the price. The furniture is very nice, as well as the facilities. It could be better preserved.
