I had a reservation through Choice Hotels. I am a single woman traveling alone and this was NOT a safe area in downtown Bakersfield!  The lady at the desk showed me the room, and I told her that I did not feel safe staying at this location.  I asked her if there would be a fee for cancelling, and I will get a hotel (still on Choice Hotels) in a better area though it would cost me more.  She said, "no problem, I will cancel."  I asked if there would be a charge, and she said, "no charge. It's covid."  Now, I find that they did not cancel, will not cancel, and are saying I was a "no show."
Horrible area, Dingy looking rooms.

NOT SAFE LOCATION DO NOT TRUST

$100 for a room dirtier than the landfill. Requested 1 bed got 2.Drug dealers around cars.Tub & sink broken.We were told we would not be refunded or moved to another room.Should be condemned indefinitely.

Cleanliness doesn't exist here.Dirty towels, broken tub&sink & dishonest staff.Bleach & gloves shower shoes a must here!

Clean room and hotel. Good reception. They gave us 2 packages of cookies at check in.  To replace the hot breakfast they provided instant oatmeal, granola bar and bottle of juice.  Clean and well appointed expect they had a round toilet.  Could use a grab in the shower.  The parking lot is in horrible shape.  Only 2 handicap parking space at the front of hotel.

Dark, holes in the walls, shower didn’t work, TV would play for 5 min on and one min off, WiFi non existent - just about time you would connect it would disconnect.

Breakfast is next door and they had nothing but soggy eggs, toast, milk, raisin bran.

Depressing and breakfast was a joke

1) They had no record of our booking, despite having a booking confirmation email and code. Had to rebook at the desk for a higher rate. 

2) The room was dark and gloomy, old TV, dated decor, slow WiFi, uncomfortable beds, noisy guests.

3) Free breakfast was a help yourself 'buffet' in an abandoned diner. Food tasted old and metallic. Coffee tasted like kitchen cleaner. It was cold, dark and dirty inside. 

4) Ignored by staff when checking out. 

5) I've emailed regarding these issues which have gone unanswered. 

Might as well pay a little more for somewhere of quality.

Lousy Inn & Suites

Check in was ok. Room had a queen bed which was smaller than a regular queen. This place is right next to a busy freeway so noise at night is a huge problem if you are in the outside rooms. They have rooms on the inside overlooking the pool which are less noisy with regards to the freeway. But for us the walls were so thin we could hear the next door people's yak yak most of the night. Next morning breakfast was next door accross the parking in a building which looked like a haunted house - walked into a dark big room with tables and chairs but the choice was bare minimum - luke warm scrambled eggs with tough skinned cold sausages. We skipped looking at the stuff and glad to go to a McDonalds. I would skip this Quality but Bakersfield does not have much to offer in the Choice brand.

The Quality is down.

This hotel is one of the best ones to stay in Bakersfield I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends the staff goes above and beyond to satisfy the guests. John is an  awesome boss  i had the pleasure of working at this location i learned new things helped me grow in my career in the hotel industry awesome environment to work in  john takes much pride in having not only guests happy but also employees great job john marina is also awesome at what she does awesome job guys!!!! Kudos to the quality inn staff y'all are awesome.Housekeeping does an amazing job as well very nice lady's ,,,, Maintenance is awesome very hard working people at this location happy holidays guys i miss my old job .....

John was very helpful, he cares about the guest. He really want to increase the number of people that visitors which stay at Quality Inn. He would be a great person to train others. Joann at the front desk is also very helpful. She cares about the visitors as well. The Quality Inn is a fantastic place to stay. John and Joann needs to be praised for their commitment to Quality Inn.

Nice Service

We booked this hotel inclusive breakfast. The breakfast was served in a separate building. Allover the breakfastbuilding was dirty and dusty, and it feels like it was abandoned. The breakfast was poor and bad. We didn't eat anything, but drove to the nearest Starbucks to get something to eat.

In the first room we entered in was a bad smell, and there was dark hair in one bed and small blood stains. In the other bed was a large hole in the sheet. The room wasn't that clean as expected.

We complained, and we got another room, which was cleaner.

We wouldn't stay there again.

Bad breakfast etc.

The room is super spacious and very clean, a little noisy because it's next to a freeway exit, very comfortable bunk, not to mention on this side... the only negative point is breakfast, the worst part of our road trip... no waffles or pancakes, the disgusting tea and the deep weather...
