Wow! We wanted to stay somewhere walkable to York city centre that also had parking for our hire car and Monkbridge exceeded all our expectations. The warm and informative welcome, the comfortable and beautifully renovated rooms, the cooked to order breakfast, the overall service and all the little extras and touches made our 2 night stay amazing. Thanks so much to our hard working hosts who have also painstakingly restored the building into an amazing B&B!

Lovely hotel, perfectly positioned. Hosts were friendly and helpful, offering advice about the area. Breakfast was amazing - especially the homemade jam! Little touches like the cuddly toys to put out so you weren’t disturbed and handmade soap, biscuits in the room etc made this a perfect place to stay - we will definitely be going back!

Very clean, comfortable, slept well. Good sizes room, very nicely decorated. (Country luxury feel) Hotel was very hospitable and friendly, the attention to detail (the little extras made it homely). Would definitely stay here again.

Friendliness and efficiency of the staff and owners.  Cleanliness, breakfast menu options, décor of the whole building and especially our room.  The best B B /Hotel we have ever stayed in!

The property is beautiful, clean and the staff is lovely.It's 5-10 mins walking to the city centre and to most of the attractions. Highly recommended and definitely will come back Also the breakfast is very good.

Amazing stay. The husband and wife owner show their love for their business with the cleanliness of the room and the breakfast they serve. Very central too. I recommend and will surely stay again.

Highly recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic! Hosts Paul and Fiona were amazing from the moment we arrived. We got there early as planned, and Paul kindly guided us into the free parking at the back of the hotel. The room was lovely, complete with a selection of chocolates and treats available on an honesty system. And the breakfast was simply outstanding! Made with fresh local ingredients and cooked to perfection. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place more highly! Thank you

Monk Bridge in York was our favourite stay after travelling all through England. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the entire B&B is lovely, with a serene backyard garden and a lounging room. The breakfast they serve is incredible with homemade selections. I’m allergic to eggs, usually a bit tricky for B&Bs, yet I had varied options to choose from. Its location is perfect, a 10 minute walk from the centre of York, in a quiet location with a few options very close. No stone is left unturned by Fiona & Paul, who are fantastic hosts and offered suggestions on some key sites. We would definitely stay here again!

Fiona met us at the property and went out of her way to show us round and tell us every we needed to know. The room was gorgeous with lots of littles touches that made it special. Loved the homemade shortbread. Breakfast was great. Lots of choice with homemade jams and butter. Thank you Fiona and Paul. Loved our stay and hope to return.

Both were very accommodating. Breakfast was nice quality of produce. Not over facing just enough.Parking was managed with safe set up of your keys been at property to prevent you been blocked in. Not bad parking on the property. Bed comfortable and room clean.Wiite location but not too dar to walk into York center.

Friendly and informative.Breakfast - 10/10. Pre-ordering the breakfast the night before, along with a set time worked very well. Variety of breakfasts, freshly prepared along with other buffet essentials. All really tasty.Hotel - 10/10. Stayed 3 nights. Perfect location, just outside the city walls by the Minster. Beautiful b&b, with fresh, modern decor throughout. Lots of lovely ‘personal touches’. Would recommend and would definitely stay again if we’re back in York.

Perfect York Stay

We have just had a wonderful 2 night stay. Private carpark which is great as once parked up it is only 5/10 min walk into the centre of York, where there is plenty to see and do. We had a lovely room on the back of the house, quiet, overlooking the garden & carpark. Lots of lovely touches, complimentary sherry & delicious homemade shortbread biscuits in our room, milk in the fridge + a select of beverages which you can purchase. Just outside our room there was plenty of teas & coffee etc to replenish if needed.There is a wonderful choice for breakfast, which you select the night before & is cooked by Paul. Homemade Irish soda bread which was delicious+ homemade butter, jams & Marmalade.I purchased a jar of Fiona's marmalade & she very kindly gave me her recipe which I will be trying out myself.Fiona & Paul are fantastic hosts.Their house is beautifully furnished, with a lounge to sit in & an honestly bar. It is steeped in history which you can read about. Paul & Fiona have thought of everything there are recommendations of where to visit & places to eat. Nothing is too much trouble & I wouldn't hesitate in recommending their lovely house or staying there again. Thank you

Wonderful accomodation, perfect location

It is well located, just a short walk to the York Walls and the York Minster. The building itself is well maintained, and surrounded by beautiful gardens. The host and hostess are very gracious and helpful in planning your visit to York. On top of all that, a delicious breakfast is provided every morning with 3 or 4 great choices on the menu. I would return there in a heartbeat.

A great place to stay in York!

We had a Triple room on the top floor, the room was huge, lovely Hypnos bed and views all around from the large window. The hosts were excellent and as we were there for a University visit they gave us the directions and printed off a map for us. The breakfast were ;lovely and overall, if our daughter goes to York Uni, we will be staying at this B&B when we travel up
