Much like the rest of the seaside hotels, this property is open for the summer and closed for the winter.  In its heyday it must have been Something Special with huge dining/ballrooms and generously sized hotel rooms opening onto open balconies overlooking the seashore.
The bathroom had been rebuilt in the past five years.
Whilst there are lifts to each floor, the hotel appears to have expanded into adjacent properties over the years resulting in uneven floors and random flights of stairs up and down, together with fire doors to negotiate with luggage.

We've been to the Sandringham Hotel several times and always enjoyed our stay.
Stayed in a recently renovated room with a big walk in shower. Brilliant sea view and balcony to enjoy a glass of wine.
Breakfast was good and the evening meal (first time we've eaten in) was brilliant value. 4 huge  courses for £20!!

As always the staff were friendly, efficient and a pleasure to be around.
With 3 sunny days, the 35 paces from the Hotel steps to the Sandown sandy beach was just about far enough 😁. Onto the sun lounger and to read a good book.

Swimming in the sea is a must but also the Hotel's swimming pool shouldn't be ignored. Again, recently renovated with a new toilet and tile work every where. Excellent.

We've been here 5 times, can't wait to get back next year for our 6th! 

Lovely Hotel, great location

The hotel itself is very dated and needs a refurb, furniture is old scratched and like I say very dated, it’s also very expensive, we didn’t spend much time at the hotel so was ok for us as we was down for the scooter rally, if I had been there for an holiday with my kids then I would not have been happy, the best thing about the hotel was magic Mike the night Porter, he was a credit to the place, very helpful and tried his best with any requests we had, overall to sleep and shower was ok

Took a group of 10 families here on a charity holiday in May half term. This is about the 10th year we have done this, and the first time since Covid. It’s still a great place. We had a family room each, all with a sea view balcony offering fantastic views over the beach and out to sea watching the ships on the horizon. The rooms are clean, well appointed and beds comfortable. We had the half board option and the food at all meals was great. The don’t offer a separate children’s menu for dinner, which as children’s charity we were a party with many children. However, Barry was amazing and then organised  a children’s option for dinner for the rest of the stay. Vicky is brilliant at reception - from arranging the booking, our many queries and special requests and coping with all of us throughout our stay. She is kind, thoughtful and caring - a great welcome at the hotel. The bedrooms and the public areas are clean and tidy and the large spacious bar area enables our group to socialise in the evenings and still enable other hotel guests to have their space.  The young people in our group loved the pool table and the indoor pool was used by many too.  Steve the Beach Hut man opposite the hotel was amazing too and he provided sun beds, wind breaks and a beach hut which made visits to the beautiful sandy beach so memorable.  It’s a great base to go out from to discover the wonderful island.  Thank you everyone at the Sandringham. We will return. 

Fantastic Stay

To begin with my wife and I stay at this hotel every time we visit the island and so far we do not have any complaints. Yes, the hotel is a bit in the 70's and the decor in the communal rooms/bar area could do with a refresh but overall its clean and spacious.My wife is registered disabled and whenever we went out the staff let us exit through the rear door onto the high street negating the stairs down to reception and the walk up the sloping pavement outside round to the main road.
We always book a sea view room with balcony and its usually on the top floor. 
The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom, the staff (2 young ladies) refreshed our towels and emptied our bins daily. The bed was very comfortable and fresh.
If we ran out of either milk or sugar for our drinks, a quick visit to reception  and I was returning with a handful of replacement sachets
We sleep with the balcony door in the vent position to allow us to hear the waves crashing on the beach. 
On our last night of 3 we decided to reserve a table for breakfast next morning before we checked out. At 0815 we were greeted by a young lady at the restaurant entrance who took our payment and showed us to our table. We both had a full English breakfast @£16 each, which was on the table within 10 mins and very nicely cooked.
Yes, its expensive but its the only hotel on Sandown sea front with balcony rooms and my wife and I are happy to pay the room rate for that extra bit of outdoor space.
We will be back again next year for sure.     

LOVE the place

Great hotel. Lovely indoor pool and jacuzzi. Perfect location. Friendly staff. Great price. Next time sea view. Room clean. Nice shower. Decor a bit dated like me but adds a fill good factor. Will definitely be back very soon hopefully for a lot longer stays

Wow 5 Stars is really not enough! To begin with Vic was AMAZING! She was so warm and welcoming when we first came to check in. I messed up a bit of the booking as I am a bit of a doughnut but she helped me get the right/perfect rooms for all of us. Vic offered some fantastic suggestions for things to do and definitely steered us in the right direction in fact our best day was a result of following her suggestions. So the service is clearly fantastic and she was lovely. Everyone was incredibly polite and professional she just went above and beyond.

Now the location is another fantastic touch it is right on the beach which is a Big Plus for us. There is also some great food next door aswell. They have a spacious pool room (which looks great), brilliant sea views and a wonderful balcony. I highly recommend this accomodation. The rooms were incredibly clean which was appreciated as one of us has mild dust allergies and they were very comfortable.

We thought we missed Vic when we were checking out as we couldn't see her when we had a look but she then popped out the hotel and came to the car to wish us safe travels and hoped we enjoyed our stay! That was incredibly sweet and appreciated. This review is from all four of us.

Amazing stay and Vic was Fantastic

A bit of a mixed review really.

The hotel is set right on the seafront and i had a balcony so very good views.. however it would be better if the balconies were partitioned off,  as currently there is just a chain separating each balcony so not much privacy.. the room was a very good size. The hotel is very clean and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. 

Now the downside. The hotel seems quite expensive for saying its a 2 * hotel. There is also no air conditioning at all and was absolutely stifling in the recent hot weather, even with the balcony door open. This did make me want to go home early as was uncomfortable. 

I would recommend this hotel but unfortunately not in very hot weather

Mixed review

Hotel was ok but no air con, window opened onto the noisy High St.
Staff ok, expensive bar, lots of kids running around late at night, so mixed clientele.
Room a bit 1960’s, rubbish tv channels. Water pressure low, room doors so highly sprung no one could close them quietly.
Mid range, value for money 4/10.

Overnighting

Having read some reviews on this hotel, our experience was most pleasant. Clean public rooms and our room and ensuite was the same. Bed comfortable and bed linen clean and fine. All staff friendly and breakfast good with dinner, although on a limited menu, well cooked. Altogether  lovely break on the Isle of Wight
