The White Hart Hotel Wetherspoon

Clean, friendly, comfortable, warm, with a modern feel in such an old building. I stayed for 3 nights and everything  I experienced was first class. All the staff were courteous and helpful, from the manager to the cleaning staff. I felt valued as a guest. This hotel was part of the Weatherspoon's chain so the food and drink were very reasonably priced and the service was quick!!

I had an amazing stay at *The White Hart Inn*! The room I stayed in was incredibly spacious and beautifully maintained—such a comfortable and relaxing space. The room attendants went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect, and nothing was too much trouble.  

The restaurant staff were equally fantastic, making both breakfast and dinner a lovely experience. A special mention to Shelly, who went above and beyond with her warm and attentive service.  

Overall, a fantastic stay with exceptional service. Highly recommend and would definitely return!  


I came to Okehampton for the first time to attend a Business Training Course.  I stayed at the White Hart Hotel.  The staff were warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them, making our group feel at home. We ate in the restaurant, good honest food at reasonable prices.  When the venue for the course was no longer available to us, they stepped in to help us so we could carry on with our course.  We were so grateful as we had come from all over the country traveling 6 -10 hours to arrive at Okehampton..

Frequented this whetherspoons regularly over the last week whilst in the area , and have to say other than Sunday morning after storm darragh when they were stupidly busy the food ,service and facilities was absolutely spot on , and good value.  Will certainly eat there again when in the area in future.

We stay here a lot. The hotel is amazing and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. We asked for a first floor and this was no problem. Cant fault upstairs at all. Minor niggle no milk in the room but I got some from the bar an egg cup full. No one at reception to ask.
The pub but has gone downhill rapidly. Just no staff to cope with drinks, apps and food and clearing the tables. Shame this is a lovey older world spoons .However our evening meal came quick and it was hot. Given up about a hot breakfast they can't do that for some reason. It's a big place and if no one to deliver it. It goes cold.  Disabled bays filled with workmen and barrels etc.

Had a lovely 2 night stay with my daughter. Receptionist was so helpful, I couldn't have been treated any better at a 5 star hotel. Room very clean, beds comfortable. Everything we needed. Didn't notice any noise ourselves. Lovely shower. But the staff really made the stay. 

Wow, what an amazingly historic stunning hotel and restaurant. The staff are very attentive, and the selection of beers and local alcohol is vast.

Lots of food and bar snacks, with great atmosphere throughout the venue.

The staff at this hotel, bar or just about the venue, were so lovely, kind, considerate.. special thanks to The lovely manager, Carly, I hope thats right, you took such good care of us, we had room 108 to start with, which was noisy for this light sleeper, no issues finding us a quieter room for the following night, and they popped our bags into the new room while we were out celebrating with family for milestone final treatment. They serve food until quite late, including pudding.

Highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying, having a night out, or eating out in Okehampton.

The Hotel is excellent in all ways spacious room, comfy bed clean and quiet, reception staff are lovely and friendly, and the building is full of character which is well maintained.
Rooms are provided with soaps tea and coffee and bottled water.
Location wise it is ideal to travel to all parts of Cornwall and Devon.
As for the food and drink downstairs this is a different matter first of all the service is absolutely disgraceful there were always customers waiting with no sign of anyone behind the bar when they do appear they dont know who to serve first so your wait continues this is not just at busy times its the norm, being told they are short staffec is not my concern but it should be to the Manager who is losing custom to the pub accross the road which is just as cheap breakfast especially is £2 ph cheaper and they have sufficient staff to keep their customers happy.
Parking was not a problem left out of the door right after the river bridge on street free from 6pm until 11am never failed to get a space or continue past the river and park roadside with no restrictions again always spaces.
In conclusion a lovely character filled hotel terrible Bar use the London Inn instead



Had a lovely one night stay. The room was large and comfortable. Had an evening meal and breakfast which was standard Wetherspoons pub grub and we enjoyed it very much. The staff were lovely and very helpful. My only minor issue was the feather pillows which I personally don’t like but I could have asked for synthetic ones I just didn’t read the information till the morning so that’s my fault. All in all our stay cost £100 for bed breakfast an evening meal which I thought was great value for money and we will definitely be back. 

Arrived early, had a small wait for room to be ready, was pleasantly surprised with room, hot drinks and biscuits were available to make.
Bed was comfortable and room was quiet.
The downstairs (pub) was a bit cold for me.
Parking was never an issue on nearby roads, but the pub does have a disabled bay which was constantly occupied by vehicles not displaying a blue badge.

One night stay

Central historical hotel and Weatherspoons 

We found this hotel a very convenient place to stay while visiting our grandson whose recently moved into town. The room was comfortable and recently refurbished bathroom met our needs perfectly.
The onsite restaurant perfectly suited us for dinner and breakfast - it's not fine dining but convenient and good value.
Unfortunately there is no onsite parking but it is possible to find a location nearby.

Good value for a short stay

Lovely Hotel BUT....

We had a spacious room which was warm and comfortable as well as being very clean.  The fairly busy road outside never disturbed our sleep.  Room service  was superb with tea, biscuits etc being properly replenished.

Staff at reception always polite and friendly and helpful.

Breakfast on 15 April was excellent. We ordered the same items for breakfast the following day but the meal was hideous.  The only reason we could think of was that it was a different chef on the second morning; but that is speculation and we would not wish to single out an individual for criticism.

Parking was no problem, we just left the car overnight in a quiet road nearby.
