I was there in 2019 for a night that my traveling companions and I will remember for the rest of our lives... dirty, old, smelly hotel, unpalatable bathrooms, stomach-feeling breakfast.

The worst hotel.

One of my pet hates, a dirty toilet brush impregnated with toilet paper. I don't like toilet brushes at the best of times but if we need them they should be kept clean. Very off putting and unappetizing before breakfast. Also the breakfast room had a silly small self service table for drinks.

This is probably not a holiday hotel but was fine for an overnight as I needed to be in Nottingham early the next day. The staff were friendly and the breakfast reasonably priced. It is an old building and the furniture is a bit battered but the room was clean and the towels were fluffy. For the price I thought it was reasonable and was surprised to read the negative reviews.

From uncomfortable beds, to wall and ceiling paper falling off in 2 separate rooms, this place needs renovating and our experience does not reflect the good reviews. Electrics and showers in bad condition. Does not reflect the high prices charged.

Be aware that not all staying are guests. Some rooms are long stay occupancy for families housed by the council. My two nights were disturbed by noise during the night. Second night worse with a row going on upstairs and hotel door used until early hours. Hotel manager did grant me a refund for the second night due to the disturbance.

This is a pretty ropey place. Staff were friendly on arrival and don’t mind showing me three rooms as room I was allocated and then the next room seen was not good.  Sheets were clean and shower was clean. Decor old and tired and in some parts dirty. 

Try somewhere else - very misleading website

We needed to find a room at short notice, so this was not the best, but it was adequate and not too expensive. The staff were friendly and the breakfast good enough, though if you don't want a cooked breakfast, go elsewhere as there is no alternative apart from porridge. Our room was small, quiet, and clean, but the ensuite desperately needed updating.  The shower was very small, the screen old and rickety. If someone else was using the water elsewhere it stopped running so you can be left soapy in the shower and the cold cuts out, (ouch) or left with a mouth full of toothpaste.  The sink had no plug and when we queried this we were told they take them away so people can't leave the tap running and flood the bathroom!  This made it impossible to run a bowl to wash.  The window could do wth a clean up and repaint  and the radiator didn't work. The mirror over the bowl was cracked and too low to see in unless you're a midget.  Other rooms may be better, this was room 5. 

Otherwise the hotel is well located, good parking, friendly staff. It was reasonable at £55 (excluding breakfast) but I guess you get what you pay for.

Adequate for a couple of nights but poor bathroom facility

When checking in, was asked to hand over my security number on bankcard so they can charge me if I damaged the room and telling me it's policy. First told me one reason, then it was a different reason. Came across as very suspicious. I refused and was then made to feel uncomfortable and the staff wasn't friendly when I left either. Never heard of such a thing in all my time of staying at hotels. Will never go there again.

We were lucky to get a room with a double bed, as we booked quite late.The location was ideal for us, as P&J is the nearest-located hotel to the University Campus. As usual, the breakfast was great and both the room rate and the charge for breakfast were reasonable.

Great location for a good price

I stayed one night. The bed was fine and comfortable but the room was too warm. Maybe the heater could have been turned down but I didn't check. The desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Free car parking round the back of the building was very convenient.
